A fake typing job scam contacted me through Upwork.
They contacted me outside of Upwork (big no no) and emailed me a bull[censored] contract. I did the work, submitted it, and suddenly I have to pay them via CASH APP for a "remote license permit" to be able to work internationally with them. I pointed out that their contract says they're based in New York, and their website was a literal blank template you can choose on Wiz!
I'm not even sure the "agent" I spoke with knew that they didn't work for someone legitimate. Further digging shows they're likely based in Nigeria, so who knows.
What I DO know is that this is a scam. I went through it so I could see for myself, and now I hope my review helps others.
I didn't lose any money, and didn't give out any information that isn't readily available with a Google search, but I did lose valuable working time, and as a freelancer, that blows.
