Received a mailer for my LLC with a very formal looking application. I assumed it came from the state of OK, that's how good the document is. The application is for renewal of my annual LLC certificate for $150. Had I not been paying attention to the recipients address and company name I would have paid the fee believing I was paying the state directly. There is a deadline of 10/14/2022 mentioned with a mention of penalties if late. They are using a "respond by date" directly placed above a comment of "Oklahoma laws...at risk for penalties". While it is stated they are not a gov't agency, the location of the statement and lack of any other types of disclosures would lead most to simply pay the fee and not think twice about it. It's a gross "processing fee" of $125 + $25 for the state LLC renewal fee.
