Type of a scam Online Purchase

The individual Kalea McKenzie claimed to need help paying college bills and advertised she was taking custom purse orders. She advertised on social media including her tiktok page @kallkinter. She sold through her Shopify account at kinterbykalea.com. There are thousands of comments on her page asking for order updates and asking when they will receive their bags that they purchased over a year ago. On a tiktok live on 1/19/2023 with Karlos Dilliard @wardofthestate1.0 Kalea shared that she had spent the money that she received from the bag orders, over 50k (those who were scammed estimate more), on school and other things. She opened up an Etsy shop kallkinter and said she was using money earned from the Etsy sells to refund people who had previously requested it. Kalea shared that her bank account was overdrawn by $200. Karlos shared with her that her practices were unethical and asked for a refund. Kalea refunded Karlos but has not refunded or provided items to thousands of others. On the live she promised to get everyone their bags, insisting she would get everyone their bags even those who requested refunds. The tiktok creator Karlos Dilliard @thelifeofkarlos has posted videos detailing months of communication and being told his items were shipped when they never had been. Several people on the live urged Kalea to stop making false promises and to get people their items where possible. People report waiting for over a year for a bag they were told would take two months to arrive. On the live on the 19th Kalea shared that she was a student at Georgia Southern. On Kalea's tiktok page it says she 22years old. On her LinkedIn it says she attended Harvard University from 2008-2017.
