Type of a scam Employment

I was initially contacted by Perry Stone whose title is Senior Technical Recruiter at Karsun Solutions on LinkedIn. He said they had a part-time customer service position he thought I'd be a great fit for. And if I were interested, email [email protected] with my resume, in which I did. Alexa got back to me with the job details, told me to confirm if I were interested in the job and she would send me next steps. After I confirmed my interest, she sent over another email with further details as to what was required in order to get started. I had to purchase some software and provide them with my complete address, and they would send me a check for $2,950 to purchase the program, which $650 would be for my training allowance. I marked this as spam because it is very fishy to me. After reading the other complaint, I know I've done the right thing. Others should know to beware of these kinds of requests.
