I contracted with a breeder (Joseph Anthony of 62 Kennedy Rd Annex, Weaverville NC telephone: 734-720-1843 and 412-230-2238 for the purchase of a Chow puppy AKC ($1,300), with the shipment of the pet to be by land for $210. The initial contact was via Facebook Messaging. Joseph Anthony “Nevez” not sure about the spelling of the last name. I was looking at his site and shortly thereafter, he facebook messaged me asking if I was interested in purchasing a puppy - that he had two available. We communicated by FB messaging and I then contact him by phone. He emailed me a contract for the purchase of a puppy for $1,300 with shipping to be $210. I told him he was too far away - he was allegedly in North Carolina and I'm in NJ. His response was no problem, we can ship the dog for $210 -- we do it all of the time. He said the puppy would be shipped by land. He said payment must be made in full prior to shipment. Said breeder allegedly brought the "alleged ghost pet that never existed" to Overline Logistic Service to be shipped and when I checked the tracking information, someone changed the shipment to air freight. I questioned the breeder reminding him that he told me it would be shipped by a dog carrier, via car/truck and he confirmed that the pet would be in the front of the cab. The pet would be safe - and fine. I paid for the pet, including the shipping fee. Joseph Anthony then brought the pet to Overline Logistic Service on September 26, 2021. I spoke with Shawn Benson from Overline 775-557-8547 telephone number on September 26, 2021, who assured me that the pet would be fine and that the pet would be with a “Nanny” to accompany the delivery directly to my home. Shawn and Anthony said they do this all of the time - the dog will be fine and it was “safer” to ship the dog via air. I asked Shawn Benson for Overline’s office number because there is no number on their website, https://overlinelogisticservices.com/about-us/ - he would not give it to me. Overline then emailed me (with a “gmail address”) saying it would be an additional $1,500 for an air conditioned crate. During my conversation with the shipping rep, Shawn Benson, at NO TIME did he say that there would be an additional $1,500 for delivery of the pet. I received subsequent texts from the shipper, Shawn Benson of Overline, badgering me that if I didn't pay the additional fee, the shipment would be delayed that I would be charged more if the pet had to stay over night. I contacted the breeder to tell him to pick up the dog and demanded my money be returned. The shipper and breeder both said to me there was NO TURNING BACK, that the breeder dropped off the pet and he couldn't get the pet back. At that time, I realized this was all a scam. The breeder and shipper are scamming people. Joseph Anthony said that raising chows was a family business. He was "offended" when I said he could possibly be scamming me. I believe the “family business” is scamming as many people as they can. Shame on me putting any sort of trust in this “alleged” breeder. I should have contacted the Better Business Bureau first. Both parties committed fraud by deception across State lines. I can provide the FB messaging if requested, as well as the texting from the Shawn Benson.
