This man scammed me with rental property

was searching for a rental property on Facebook Marketplace when I was contacted by someone through this phone number, claiming to be the owner of a property I was interested in.

He convinced me to send $60 for a background check, which turned out to be a scam. After that, he asked me to send a deposit via Zelle, which raised further suspicions. I later realized he is not the real owner of the property.

It has now been two weeks, and not only did he scam me, but he is also continuing to harass me through messages.

I would like to report this fraudulent activity and seek guidance on how to proceed.

Jerry used Facebook Marketplace to advertise a house for rent and I messaged him for additional information, then we exchanged phone numbers and he asked me a few questions about my past rental history. He sent me an application to rent and I filled it out giving him my current address and email address, he said the application fee was $60 and because my partner was also going to be on my lease he asked me for $120 because there were two adults moving in. He asked me to also put down the security deposit of $500 the same night I filled out the application, I explained that I was not comfortable with giving him the deposit before I saw the house, we then agreed on a date and time for us to meet and walk through the house. When the time came that we should’ve been touring the house he didn’t show up and didn’t respond to my texts or calls. When he finally responded to me he was very rude and I told him I was no longer interested and to give me my refundable application fee back which I have not received.
