Scammer offered me a grant for 80,000 if I sent 800. I didn't send the money, but I made the mistake of sending an image of my drivers license.

I was sent a phone number (302-244-0431) by a high school classmate and said if I would text this number and ask for IFC Grant money, I could get $55000.00, so I did text him and she ask me for name, age, sex, address, occupation, yearly income and if I owned or rented. I sent this to him, then he replied he was running me through a database and would get back to me. In less than 5 minutes he said I was approved to the following

you pay $500.00 and get $20000.00

you pay $700.00 and get $30000.00

you pay $1200.00 and get $55000.00

I told him I would do the $55000.00 and he said to give him $1200.00 He said "You have to be very fast about this. I have many people to attend to". I ask him to take the $1200.00 out of the $55000.00 and send me the balance, he stated he could not do that. I would have to give him $1200.00 to make the deliver.

At this point I told him no and he said, "I will give you one more chance or you will need to cancel". I told him to cancel. I did not hear from him again. My "classmate" sent me a message asking why I do not take the money. I told her I think it's a scam. She assured me she got her $55,000.00 and asked me if she could pay the $1200.00 and get my $55,000.00. As this time I broke off communication with her and she did continue to text me, however I have not got back to her.

A good friend of mine had his Facebook hacked, and was messaging me telling me about a government grant that he received $150,000.00 from. They mentioned the company IFC at one point, and must have been foreign and/or illiterate, because most was hard to understand.

I was contacted through messenger by someone that I have known for years regarding a IFC Grant. I was told that they set this up working to develop more people and to reduce poverty around the world.

- Independence, OR, USA

I was contacted by my "friend" who said she was just given 40,00.00 by the IFC. And I was excited cause I had just moved into an apartment after being homeless for almost 3 years, i could use the money so I can get my wisdom teeth out and pay rent while I'm bed ridden.so I text the number and I felt ok that they weren't asking for my social or anything. But my best friend sitting next to me suggested I do more research on it. I did and everything seemed to check out, till I reached the ScamPulse.com website and red the story about the senior woman who had 500 stolen from her and that her Facebook friend was hacked and was made to sound like her. Which I thought about it and realized my friend never had addressed me as (let's call me on Basil on here) "Good morning Basil"

For 1.she knows and usually calls me by my first real name.

2. She never calls me by my name.she only ever would just say "Hey"

I asked the "IFC" if there were any fees. They continued to pressure me into telling them the information they needed. I asked again and they finally told me that there was gonna be a 400+ fee depending on how much I wanted.

I immediately knew this was that same scam and told them I was glad I didn't give them my info that u had seen the report on BBB. And I came straight here.

People if you ever get given the number (209)309-0709. It's NOT the IFC. Its the scam.

I'm glad I didn't trust it, and that I read that report on BBB.

One person reached me on Facebook, I didn't know him, he said he got $85,000. Then another person who was on the Facebook page, that he got $160,000, he said they came to his house and dropped it off. The Facebook page is a white man, Demario Kidd, Managing Editor of IFC. But the person who called me on the phone yesterday was foreign, maybe Somalian. He wanted my full name, street address, Facebook password, email address, to see if I qualified for the grant. He said if I qualify that I would get cash money, and they would deliver it to my home. I said no just send me a Messenger. He said it's legit, it's not a scam.

They conned me into giving personal info including debit info inconveniencing me they were a good preacher friend

I received a friend request from a person I know and immediately accepted their request. I immediately received a Facebook Messenger message from them asking how I was doing. I had not talked to them for quite sometime so I told them some things that had happened in my personal life. Without even being empathetic or saying they were sorry, they immediately started talking about an IFC grant. Well since my friend had gone through some of the same life altering events as I recently had I thought they were just trying to be helpful. They immediately asked if i knew a Daniel Johnson and I said no and they supposedly gave me his personal cellphone number to send him a text. Still no signs of emotion, etc. Of what tragedy had occurred in my life. They immediately said to contact that number now to secure my grant money. That is when I realized this could not be my friend.

I immediately researched FB to see if my friend had another FB profile and they did. So I immediately told them what had happened and also reported my suspicions FB. I also told whoever it was that I would pray for them and chastised them for taking advantage of people. I have blocked them on FB and FB messenger. I forgot to take a snapshot of the phone number they wanted me to call before I deleted their messages. Sorry. I just hope even a tidbit of information I have provided will help others.

I was desperate for money because I had water damage to my house so a lady on Instagram told me about this grant program you pay levels to get more money . I got in the program losing a lot of money on amazon gift cards in an effort which I should've been much wiser . They also told me cards were bad but when I got them checked ,they use the cards ignoring me like nothing happened . I got so messed up into this and listening to the lady telling me to don't give up ,I'm took out loans , maxed out credit cards on the program to receive the supposed amount which never happened. These people made me feel like something was going to happen then make a lie to keep me paying them money . I just had to recognize this a lost , move on struggling as usual and do it the right way. I wish could remember the lady name but my page was hacked on Instagram erasing everything .I hope this will help someone and do not get into this program .

Someone contacted me via Instagram (using a friend's account) and asked me have I heard about the IFC program going on. I responded with no and they replied "It's specifically for those who need assistance paying for bills, buying homes, starting a business of your choice, going to school, or even helping raise their children with old retired and disable people." They also message back and said he/she received $10,000 and don't have to pay it back. Then asked me if I knew William Henry and sent a number 5202764199 and said to text this number if I would like to apply.

I was contacted by a male acquaintance that I had been friends with on facebook for a long time and told "I was so surprised that i got $150,000,00 when i applied for the IFC and you don't have to pay it back.. You can also get this money too" Etc. I responded letting them know I wasn't interested in a scam and that I knew it was a scam but they just kept refusing to take no for an answer.

I reported them on facebook.

Hacker used an Instagramer who is related to me to provide information about a joint Government Grant program with IFC. They expressed the amount of money they gained, advised me to apply using the number 2102007268 to contact Attorney Williams Henry. Initial contact was made at 2 AM and as of the next day the message stated “Instagramer” as the name and my family members picture was gone. My family member did mention a few minutes after the image disappeared that she was hacked and they made a second account as well. Luckily I refuse to provide information without researching and I found a similar issue on BBB as well.

On October 29, 2018, I was on contacted via Facebook by a scammer purporting to be MICHEAL MCKNIGHT, Agent for International Finance Corporation (IFC). His Facebook profile indicated that he was located in Washington, DC (tel #205-267-1003). He presented that I was the "winner" of a government grant from IFC, on the condition that I remit a certain amount of money, in advance, via MoneyGram. He had also hacked a FB account of a personal friend, sent me (fake) FB messages from her, supposedly indicating how trustworthy McKnight was, and that she had already "benefited" from the program. Once I contacted my friend by phone, she confirmed that she never sent me any such messages on FB, that it was a scam. Fortunately, I did not remit any funds via MoneyGram. I have today filed a complaint with the FBI via website www.tips.fbi.gov. I will also file a complaint with Facebook, notifying them that their platform has been hacked. I have deleted all personal information from my Facebook account, and changed my profile picture. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS IFC SCAM.

I’m supposed to wire 500 dollars to Walmart to Walmart for a total of 1000. I was contacted by someone that apparently is a friend of mine on Instagram. She said she was compensated 50,000 in grant money and had to pay 1000. I told her that I don’t have that kind of money and she said she would loan me 500 and I can pay the rest next week.

A woman named Joyce Stedelbaurer sent me a friend request, and since she was a friend of a friend I confirmed, but the first thing she did was to ask me if I had heard of IFC giving grants, and I then looked it up and her up--she had no other friends listed but my friend, whom I contacted and she had just confirmed this person today, but said that Joyce was persistent. I told her to unfriend her as I had. I then posted a warning to my friends not to friend her if she contacted them!

A girl text me through Instagram telling me about this scam and I was messaging him then start calling and it was a text app

- Birmingham, AL, USA

Someone hacked my friend's InstaGram account and was talking about a 80,000 loan she had taken out for a business. They told me about a grant opportunity and told me to contact them. I was given 856-492-1529 to call/text which I did and there was a reply asking me for my full name and home address. Once I gave them my name I messaged the friend on another social media website and asked if it was her just to be sure and she confirmed that it was not. I never sent them any info other than my 1st and last name but. I noticed that there was a lot of misspelled words in the text and they kept asking me about my information through text instead of calling me. Both me and the friend were targeted. No other info was provided by the scammer but a phone number.

He goes by the name Howard Greg, hacked a friends FB account and sent me this text message.
