The woman that placed the call said the name so fast of the company she was supposedly with I had to ask for it to be repeated numerous times and I still could not understand what she was saying. She sounded American. Stated that she was calling about a line of credit that my husband and I defaulted on. She said we opened the account in 2009 and made the last payment in 2016. I said, "a line of credit?", ma'am I have never had a line of credit in my life, what are you talking about. She then listed about 20 credit cards from various stores and included VISA and Mastercard. I said ok, so which one is it and she said it was the company of HSBC that owned the line of credit. By the way, HSBC stands for The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. At this point, my husband came into my office and started asking questions and told her we would have received notification via mail if this was the case and we have received no notifications. She claimed the company she was calling from was the mediator for HSBC and we owed them

$2,400 in late fees and interest payments. I said I don't think so, she asked us to hold a moment. My husband says I think this is a scam. When someone came back on the line it was a man who said his name was Georgio but he sounded like he was from India. He asked us what the problem was and my husband said that we have not received any notification of money being owed to anyone by mail which we would have received by now. My husband said that he believes this call is a scam and Georgio immediately put us on hold and then I hung up. These people called my work number, knew my husband's name, my home address, this call bothers me very much as calls normally do that are trying to scam you.
