Report house for rent on hotpads

House was posted on hotpads. I sent a message and then the house disappeared from the website. Received a text the next day asking for my email to send me the application for the rental. I asked why it was removed (thinking it had been rented) and was told that they thought they had a renter lined up but it didn’t work out. So I gave my email address and then was sent the application. It was weirdly worded and made me think something was wrong/sketchy. He gave his name, his wife’s name and said he worked for a ministry and had to move across the country. He even added the website to the ministry he supposedly works for but I could not find his name related to or mentioned on the website. I almost sent the filled out application with our personal information and pictures of our ID’s but I googled the phone number I received the text from and found it posted on this website.

Seller posted house for rent on Trulia. I responded and we started email chain. I provided application that included personal info such as a copy of my and my husband's license. Once seller accepted application, they wanted to do background check so Venmo'd $100. They responded, that they chose us tenant but before committing and sending more money, I said I wanted to walk through rental. They said I couldn't because sister (who had just lost husband) and her kids were there. I said I would wait until sister leaves and seller has ghosted me since. We talked to neighbors of rental and they provided (2) men are living there and that they've had multiple people come asking about the same thing.

The scammer reached me today. Thanks to this post I did not respond. Following is the text I received:

Hello , Mr & Mrs , texting regarding my property for rent at ( 18XXX 146th Ave NE, Woodinville, WA 98072 ). I will need you to get back to me with your email so I can send you the rental questionnaire to fill out.
