I will not fall for this!
Scam that i will not fall for!
Scam that i will not fall for!

I was applying for jobs on indeed and was sent a text message from a guy name Tom Roos to conduct an interview with Hopper Travel Agency. I never conducted an interview via instant messenger (red flag) but desperate for a job I continued the process. The $28.50/hourly was too good to be true and getting paid $25/hour for training was also too good to be true ( I should have ended it there). There was a guy by the name of Neil F. Mc Farlane who was “interviewing” me LOL. Long story short this is a scam and attached are the messages. Good luck on job hunting everyone and actually landing a REAL job.

This was supposed to be an online job. They wanted me to pay for all the materials. Mailed me a bogus check which almost got my bank closed. A complete fraud.

I received an email from a person named John claiming that I am a prospective employee and asking me to respond to his emaill by setting up a zoom interview with their HR department. It's garbagee. Please beware!

I as well. The guy wanted to conduct an interview via text. He said that's new way - bull[censored]. I asked him to send me a formal email from the company (not gmail - red flag). I sent him the same email correspondence from HR.

What pisses me off, is folks like us trying to support our families and these [censored]es exploit our unfortunate situations. I would love to meet these MF'ers in person!

I I reached out to a women claiming there were available job positions online she then sent me a link and I then wasted hours talking to a SCARY STRANGER that claimed they were a hiring manager from HOPPER INC. they weren’t! I contact Hopper myself via Facebook messenger and got a reply from them stating the only way to apply is through their website, and after that you would receive an email about your interest in the job and Hopper would set up an interview. Through email! After threatening these people on telegram they then deleted all of our messages! Please do not give ANY information out. These telegram scams are becoming ridiculous. I mean really all scams in general! COME ON!

I went through the same Skype interview process as some of the others have posted. It just does not seem to be a legitimate method of an interview process. The initial interviewer claimed that he was impressed with my responses and that he would pass my information along to his superiors. I received another message from them in approximately 20 minutes. By that time, I had reviewed online information and felt like there were too many red flags to continue the process.

I've never been so let down. I was feverishly looking for a remote job when I got a text message from a JESSICA BOND (859-549-7247), who said she was from the company HOPPER INC. She told me their recruitment team reviewed my resume off of CAREER BUILDER, so I didn't think anything of it. I was so desperate for a job, I subscribed to most job sites. I was informed the positions available were (CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE, DATA ENTRY, MANAGEMENT, CALL REP/HUMAN RESOURCE, TYPIST CLERK), and the job would pay $33 an hour (first red flag), plus $22.75 paid training. I was to be debriefed by a hiring manager on Skype (second red flag). I went through with the interview and the questions all seemed legitimate, like How long have you been job searching, what kind of skills do you have, strengths and weaknesses?, etc. Long story short, the "Hiring Manager JANE WESTELY (skype ID live:.cid.a9ad583a01f96583)" went through an extensive list of questions, expectations, and such, and I was hired for the position of Data Entry. They EMAILED me a check (from BENJAMIN FULLER [email protected]) for the purchase of materials/software I would need, like printer, fax machine, new laptop, etc. They needed me to Print the check, then Deposit the check through my mobile banking app... This is where I drew the line. I was hopeful at first, and a bit naive. But I didn't deposit the check and the Manager asked when I would do so. I sent Jane a link to this website. They tried (very weakly) to convince me they were HOPPER. Longer story short... if you read into something too much, it's for a reason. If it feels Wrong, it most likely is. I noticed little discrepancies in the messages at first, like how both Jessica And Jane used similar vocabulary when messaging (both of them used "Alright" at the start of a sentence), so I figured they were pretending to be different people. PLEASE please do some research before you commit.

Same. Damn crooks. I welcome these Euro pieces of [censored] to come to Chicago to pick up a check in the river.

I was also contacted with relatively the same exact messages, only difference is now they're using ICQ messaging and zoom. They said they would be sending me a check but DID NOT ask for my address to mail it! 🤣🤣 I asked for a new hire confirmation to be sure they were not a scam. Well, I didn't receive an e-mail - which I was going to cross reference with Hopper Travel Agency's contact info. Of course Ms. Julia Zadow began with "This is not a scam." followed by "I want to understand what you want." then "This is clearly a remote job." Well, she clearly thought I was an [censored]. No ma'am, I am not.

Hopper Inc contacted me about a position and I proceeded with having a Skype interview (first and only mistake). I was asked to provide my name, state, and age. Mr. Tyler Smith was the interviewee and well, just look at how that conversation went. Not to mention, when he called me, his exact words were, "you wanted a phone call, what do you want", which proceeded into what you see below.

I was contacted by these guys. And one f them asked my to buy a $150 time tracker device. I said I couldn't because I was already suspicious, because I couldn't find this persona at Hoppers LinkedIn profile.
After I said I couldn't buy said device, he blocked me.

Kindly download and set up the Telegram Messenger app on your mobile phone or computer and contact the hiring manager's Telegram ID: HOPPER_HIRE_DESK to proceed with further discussion on the full job description and interview questionnaire.

We will like to have your response in due time if you are still interested in this position.

I did as requested and the interview was chat over Telegram and they "hired" me immediately and said they would send me a check to buy all necessary for my virtual office, that they would send me a MacBook Pro and that I had to purchase all the software for the laptop from their authorized vendor. Then they wanted my email addres to send me the famous check and when I told the person (Samuel Morris) that this was a scam his chat window dissapeared from Telegram.

I was contacted via text and was given instructions on how to set up interview via Telegram. Neil F. McFarlane was the hiring manager communicating with me. I felt it was a scam when they asked for address to send a check to purchase office supplies… they then asked me to deposit the check and use the money to buy office supplies. I am so glad I had enough sense to question them . After I exposed them for fraud they went completely ghost! Beware if an “employer” reaches out to you and it feels sketchy it’s sketchy!

I was sent a text from someone asking to interview me for a job position with Hopper but the options were Skype or WhatsApp. They haven’t asked me for anything personal besides my address so far but I always feel like it’s a scam. They said they send me a check in the mail to buy a new laptop and other electronics that I need to do the job without me signing any official paperwork or giving them any information. It just sounds too good to be true. When I mentioned to them that I Believe it’sa scan they called me and reassured me that it’s not but I still don’t believe it.

Offered me a position and stated I was hired and need to give my ID and SS to verify me and I haven’t heard from them anymore. Reached out and they claimed the hire manager spouse passed

I had applied for a position on Indeed with the Bartlett Soccer Association on Sunday. Later that day, I received a message on Indeed informing me that Hopper Travel Agency was looking for, what else, remote data entry clerks/administrative assistants. The message instructed me to call "Robert Chung" on WhatsApp and gave me the number. I contacted him, went through the "interview/company briefing", "hired", and told that I would be doing training over Zoom. However, they were going to send me a check to purchase a MacBook Pro, desk, chair, and a couple of other things. They didn't ask me for my information, yet. They have given me three different WhatsApp numbers, however, saying that there was a problem with WhatsApp. I'm not buying it.

Yeah so the same thing happened to me exactly and they were pretending to be the sunglasses company “EssilorLuxottica.” They sent two checks for those exact things and made me send $400 to a number on Zelle or through wire transfer. I ended up following through, they charged back their $1000 and I lost a total of $1400 including the $1000 they sent me. So yeah any “employer” with the name Robert and some other [censored] is a scammer.

- Virginia Beach, VA, USA

“Employer” by the name of Robert Smith contacted me for an interview to be a part of the Hopper travel agency. Conducted an interview through WhatsApp and offered me a job and $2000 check to purchase supplies for a remote job. The next day asked if the funds went through and asked if I had at least $1000 to send to the vendor. I then realized it is a scam and called my bank to cancel the deposit. Also let that person know I have been in contact with the better business bureau.
