Type of a scam Home Improvement
Assured us the cheque $2950 to cover for everything.
Someone called over the phone to “confirm”. The rep Wrote “yes” on a paper and told me she will guide me thru answering questions because the lady might just talk very fast and I might not be able to understand. So, she will “help” me.
The entire duration, She kept on talking seemingly distracting me from reading the details on the form.
Never left any copy of contracts with me, told me it will be emailed but never did. Never advised me any contract term nor monthly charge.
Next day,Someone came to make all the upgrades.
An auditor came approximately a week later to check the work done.
Advised me that the cheque to cover everything will come in 2-3weeks or more.
We called Enbridge to ask about the rebate program, found out they do not offer such and especially not going door to door.
Contacted Offset ontario, found out I signed 60months term with $79.80+hst ; advised me there was a heating protection plan and a $600 energy advisor fee but she can “waive” this.
Also told me the cheque is only for $1450 to cover just the attic insulation.
I only got a hold of the contracts on march 28,when I requested it on march 27.
I asked to cancel the preauthorized debit to be cancelled and received an email telling me I will be charged for $1,120+HST and $9,576+HST .
Reported to the Cambridge police but not given case # because was told its a civil matter.
