A Painter's Touch (APT) Painting & Renovations Inc. is located at 14-3650 Langstaff Rd, Suite # 167, Vaughan, ON, L4L9A8.

The owner/operated is Tony Mazzara (Tel: 647-400-5551, Email: [email protected]). The company website was recently revamped at https://apainterstouch.com/

The company gets its jobs by referral and advertising its work done at various job sites on its instagram: @apainterstouch

I contacted 2 prominent contractors. Then I contacted Tony at his home number in Jan 2022 for a home renovation project. He attended the house in person, discussed the home improvements (took no measurements) and came up with a contract on its 3rd revision. The agreed budget was $40000. The payment structure of the contract was a down payment of $25000, $10000 upon drywall installation, $2500 upon taping/finishing and $2500 upon completion. The timeline was 3-4 weeks. He was very accommodating and personable. Said he employed 15 skilled labourers and posts all work progress on instagram with no negative reviews. The downpayment was 62% of the total cost in order to purchase materials and pay the labourers to work quick. Payments were made by eTransfer. May 2022 was the start date, that got delayed to June 1/22 which was the first day of framing. The next day was a full day of work. Thereafter attendance by any worker was inconsistent. At most they worked 2 full days a week. Tony was hardly on scene, we spoke by spoke. Workers would take pics and send him at end of day and this he will post on instagram. On Jun 18/22, I advised Tony the inconsistent progress was not working, to give some deposit back and part ways. He advised they were juggling 3 other job sites, workers sick with covid and promised my job would be priority. Gave him a 2nd chance. No one showed up in the month of July. When workers did show, the work was shoddy (see pics), debris/sawdust/concrete was never cleaned up, and the job continued to move at a snail's pace. Every time asked when work was going to finish, Tony would always push the date forward saying "no problem", "its easy", "1 week max". To please us he instructed the cabinet guy to come to take measurements. Upon arrival the cabinet guy said he couldn't take measurements because the floors weren't laid, and he left. In Sept 2022, Tony called me everyday for a week saying his Accountant was on him because I did not make the $10000 instalment. I said to finish the work first and I'll pay. He didn't like that saying its in the contract, though we had an agreement the job should of been done already. In addition, I expected skilled labour, but on 2 days the teen children of the carpenter were putting up my drywall. Another time it seemed Tony had found students off the street to come and do the heavy lifting. Out of frustration, I paid $1000 a day till the $10000 in hope this would encourage Tony to hurry up.

Least to say we're in Dec 2022 and I only had painted drywall and a tiled washroom (the trades were excellent should gone to them directly). In Dec 2022, the floors weren't getting delivered. Tony said the retailer Sarana Tiles on Jane St advised they weren't

in stock, another time they had to come from Montreal, another time was a snow storm. I called Sarana myself and found out that Tony had not paid the bill for materials bought already (ie. tiles, grout). To get the floors Tony asked me to purchase the floors and he will minus the total cost from the budget owing. Finally my floors were delivered Dec 29/22, and sat in the garage until end of Jan 2023. Tony and 1 guy came and laid LVT floors for 2 days for a 650 sq ft space and still didn't get gone. One plank was cracked and other planks weren't staggered and had to be removed. It was end of Jan 2023 the trades started showing up at my house. They advised that they hadn't been paid by Tony. I learned his carpenter wasn't paid for 5 months and owed $13000 in wages. Another labourer $3600, Tile guy $6000, Plumber $2500, drywall taper $5000, and the cabinet maker $3000. They were coming to vent to me but I had paid Tony at the beginning which included the cost for trades. They were all upset and now they were all speaking openly. After 10 months of my house being up side down, intermittent work, never ending excuses, and $40000 out of pocket, I am advising the ScamPulse.com of my experience to prevent other hard-working homeowners from this scam artist!
