I signed up for to get a quote for health insurance in California online. I just did basic information such as phone number, name and email. After submitting for a quote I have been spammed with over 30 calls in a 3-hour span. When I called to get my name taken off the list they insisted I give my insurance information that I was given by the company I chose to sign up with. When I would not give the information they got aggressive and hung up on me. I attempted to call again and asked to be taken off the list and was hung up on. It is concerning to me that they were so insistent on getting the health insurance number.

I was searching for a health insurance for my family and I and came across this website healthplans.com. I gave them a call to see how much it would cost and other questions that I had. The guy on the phone seemed professional and said he had a plan that matches to what I was looking for and the plan seemed like a good price for all the benefits so I gave him our informations to apply and paid for it with a credit card. I asked him how long until I could use the insurance and he said it was effective immediately and that I could start using it whenever. He gave me the ID# of the plan and told me I would just have to tell them the plan's name (PHCS P.P.O) and the ID# at the pharmacy or doctors to start using it until our insurance cards came in the mail. The next day, I went to pharmacy and told them that my insurance has changed and I need to update it. I told her the ID# and the plan name and they said they need more numbers for the ID# and other info such as BIN#, PCN#, etc. So I called the customer service phone number (866)395-9526 and they didn't pick up and I called around 6 times. I kept calling until someone picked up and when I told them the situation and that I need more info, they would hang up on me and this happened a couple of times until I decided just to ask to speak to the supervisor first instead and I finally got through to the supervisor and told her my situation and she said that she would find out that info for me. So I gave her my name so that she could look up my plan and she told me she couldn't find my name under that specific plan. So she gave me a phone number to call in the PHCS plan department to see if they can help me. I called the phone number (888)312-3803 and I told him the whole story and he said that he couldn't find me either and asked me how much I paid for the plan. I told him the amount and he said that he could get me a cheaper plan than that if I wanted it. I asked him was I going to get a refund for the last plan since it doesn't seem like it exists in their system? And he said that if I bought the plan he was offering than I would get my refund back. At that point, it just seemed like a scam to get more money out of me. I immediately called my credit card to stop the transaction. He also said they were under or part of our state gov. insurance or something of that sort to make them seem legit. They are also calling nonstop to my wife's phone as well.
