Someone hacked old coworkers neighbors Facebook selling items, there were no grammatical errors/story was extremely believable. Price was also believable for a John Deere mower. Scammer stated his sister in law was diagnosed with cancer and he was selling items for her to afford her medical bills. He told me he would hold the item for a down payment of $700, I told him I would only put down $300. He told me his phone number as well. After confirming the $300 was sent on Venmo he wanted additional confirmation and a screenshot of the Venmo payment sent to him, that is when I figured this was fishy. I contacted Venmo, they said there was nothing they could do and to call my bank. I even managed to call my bank and put a "stop payment" through. However, Venmo covered the $300 and now my account is locked until this person gives me my money back or I pay the $300. I requested them 3x to give me my money back and they blocked me. I am unable to use Venmo in the meantime. Also, I had to pay $30 for my bank to place a stop payment. I placed a police report and FBI report.
