Type of a scam Government Grant

I received a message online from an old friend. I should have realized sooner that it felt off, but they told me I could apply for a government grant and get $50,000 if I paid $1,000. I gave them some basic information, but not my social or bank account numbers. I felt suspicious at this point and realized it was a scheme.

Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

They call and say you have been qualified for a personal loan from the government. You have been randomly selected. A loan that you never have to pay back and you can do anything with it that is not illegal. This one said that they were connected with the federal reserve bank of New York. And what they do is ask you to purchase loadable card so that you don't have to get taxes taken out of your loan and then go to a money gram Western Union or have it deposit into your account. After you get the card then no loan comes.
