Type of a scam Government Grant
This organization called me after I filled out the form from the email advertisement, and was telling me about how I could save on my energy bill if I bought these upgrades, and that there would be government rebates. The caller then asked for my driver's license to conduct an "assessment" to see if I was eligible for these rebates. He stated that all the upgrades would cost $38 000 and there would be a loan at 3.99%
At this point I was uncomfortable with sharing any more information and I hung up. I did some research on the CGHG and it states that it will never solicit via email or in-person regarding the program. Consumers reach out to them if they are interested in the program. The CGHG also has a loan program, which provides up to $40 000 at 0% interest for 10 years.
I also called CGHG and was told that they do not authorize any 3rd party to provide the program, except for Enbridge if you are in Ontario. If you get any advertisements about rebates for home upgrades, it is a scam. Go to the CGHG website to apply to the program if you are interested.
