A purchase agreement was made and paid for on Facebook Marketplace for a motorcycle seat in the amount of $800 (total cost included the item and shipping) through Zelle. Seller received my personal home address and my payment as agreed. Time went by and no package was received even after multiple attempts to contact the seller to find out tracking information. He eventually responded and said he needed an email address in order to ship the package. No other information was provided by him. I then received emails from an unknown shipping company demanding at first $250, and then later $450, for “insurance” to ship the product. They would give no reference information about my product they were holding other than they considered it “dangerous” to ship (a motorcycle seat). The shipping company in question, “Globe Express Way”, has no contact information on their vague website; the only contact I’ve obtained is the “service” titled email I have been repeatedly corresponding with. The company refuses to give valid shipping or tracking information to me, they also refuse to divulge any company information such as formal address and proper points of contact (phone, customer service, etc.). There are no business formalities in any of our emails; meaning no names, titles, service department identifiers, etc. They asked me to pay for the shipping insurance to “an employee’s” personal Venmo account that had zero friends/followers/transactions associated with it. The original Facebook Marketplace Seller has now blocked me on social media and will not help with the transaction or with the whereabouts of my package/delivery. I have all conversations, emails and correspondence with the seller and “shipping company” if needed. Please help with my product or cash I’ve lost. Thank you.
