FedEx Imposter Reports & Reviews (37)

I got a call from this number at 7:51pm. I was putting my toddler to bed and did not initially answer the call, but a message was left. I listened to the voicemail, and they claimed to be from Fedex Ground and stated that they were unable to deliver a package due to me today, and that they needed to verify my address, followed by a reference number that I could use to call them back with. I thought it was strange, because Fedex has delivered to me many times in the past and has never called me asking for address verification, let alone at almost 8pm! Not to mention, FedEx uses tracking numbers, not reference numbers. So, I Googled the phone number. There I found a multitude of people all saying they'd received the exact same call from that exact same number, and that they'd called their local FedEx offices to verify the call only to be told that there were no such calls made to these individuals, and nothing under the reference numbers we've all been given.

Was called by someone who said they were with fed ex and they had a package to deliver to me the next day, would I be home, I told them no, they wanted to know where I would be. I told them it was none of their business and they asked again and again I told them it was none of their business and they hung up. Don't know what they were after but I am sure it was some sort of scam.

I received a text message from "FedEx" from the phone number, 602-245-6965. The text said it was from FedEx, regarding parcel number 19520. It asked me to click a shortened link. I did not. Here is the message I received from FedEx when I questioned it on their Customer Support website:

I understand you have a question about an SMS text you received. There have been several new instances of fraudulent text messages purporting to be from FedEx, so let’s clear up some facts.

a. Legitimate text notifications from FedEx:

Come from 46339, 48773, 38773, or 37473. If the SMS is from a 10-digit phone number, do not click any links as they are not FedEx

links.

Start with FedEx or Free FedEx and end with Reply STOP to stop per FCC regulations.

Have fedex.com as part of the link (e.g., fedex.com/t/123456789012/en_US) and will take you to the FedEx® Tracking page.

b. Legitimate FedEx tracking numbers are 12, 15, 20, or 22 digits long and do not contain alphabetic characters.

c. If in doubt, never click a link from a source you don’t know or trust.

FedEx does not request, via unsolicited SMS messages, payment or personal information in return for goods in transit or in FedEx custody. If you have received a fraudulent SMS message that claims to be from FedEx, you can report it by forwarding it to [email protected].

A man calling himself Kenny Rogers contacted me through messenger using a private phone number out of Canada. He said I was chosen as a fan to win a gift of 20,000.00 which he would be sending me. Before it arrived I was contacted by supposively Fedex that they will send gift from Kenny Rogers as soon as I pay shipping fees of $50. Then then wanted me to get a Walmart $50 giftcard and take pic of it and send to them at Fedex. I tried calling Fedex to see if this was true but could not get through to them cause they said I needed to have confirmation number or tag number then they could help me? Tried to get numbers from Kenny but he said he called them and that Fedex will give it to me. They or Kenny never did so I called them on it but only tried to send video of a supposed winner opening his package with money in it. Still kept pressing me to pay $50 then gift of $20,000.00 will be sent to me. So, beware of a suppose of Celebrity contacting you.

I was contacted by text message claiming they were from FedEx and I need to pay $150.00 fee

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Fed Ex and stating that they couldn't find my address to deliver a packaged. They called me at 9pm at night which Fed Ex does not usually do and claimed they tried to deliver on the 17th,18th, and 19th . The 17th was a Monday and I know for a fact fed ex does not deliver on Mondays. I feel unsafe and have contacted the police authorities and Fed Ex.

Got a call from Fed Ex stating that I had a package that needed to be delivered but he couldn't get into my driveway. I called the office from where he stated that he worked for and they said they didn't have a package or any information about a package from me. He called from a restricted number!

Calling FedEx 800# at 1-800-463-3339 and dialed 1-800-463-3393 and they are giving away free gift cards for a $4.95 shipping and handling fee. They asked all kinds of information and when you hang up they call back repeatedly at +10000000000 number saying they already charged your card. (Thinking that this company is FedEx and the last two numbers are inverted. Reported this to the bank to let them know that this is unauthorized. Do NOT call 1-800-463-3393. It's not FedEx.

I cut this scam short so I'm not exactly sure of the end goal. Male Indian voice called me. I have an Indian last name and often get targeted scams in addition to general scams. He claimed to call from FedEx (see note below) and said he needed b y cell phone number to send me a tracking number for an incoming package. I asked from whom and he said 'India', as if the entire country is sending me a package. Expecting no packages from India (here's where the last name aspect is relevant), I said I had someone at the door and could he give me a number to call back. Silence. After 10 seconds I hung up. I then called FedEx on their common toll-free number and spoke with a legitimate agent. She checked her records and saw no packages for me or for my address. (Note from above: But she also told me that the number he *apparently* called from was a legitimate FedEx number, just not one given out to the public). She agreed it was a scam. I had a second apparent FedEx call the next evening, this time from 437-370-8141. It was a customer survey from FedEx, and I *think* it was about my call into the call centre. I presume this was a legitimate survey call based on my call into FedEx for verification. However, it's possible it was part of the first scam in order to lend a sense of legitimacy to the original caller. Call me suspicious.

Got a call from 'Fedex' to my work number informing me they couldn't deliver a package today and they would do so tomorrow, however they did not provide me a tracking number (though I forgot to ask). This is quite strange because Fedex deliveries at my work are very straightforward and additionally I couldn't call the number back. They didn't ask for any specific information from me, but this could be some version of the voice print scams. The number they used was 4089076889
