A year or so ago, my mother bought me a subscription to FamilyTreeMaker from these people. I called then and the sent me a download link, which worked and I went to the site (familytreemaker.com) and registered it. No problem.

Last summer I changed computers and asked for a new link. I didn't get it and emailed again. They asked me to call, which I did. They wanted to log into my computer which I argued about and did not permit. I reached out to the company online- they have a registration record, but no record of my purchase. The people I called are a fake sales and tech support that the company knows about. So, the actual company did not have any record of my purchase and I had to buy again from the real company.

This company's email ends in .live and they want you to telephone- the actual company does all their contact via electronic means.

Fake family tree maker site

while trying to get an update for family tree maker these guys tried to charge me hundreds of dollars to upgrade I refused to do so and closed the anydesk the had up.

I had problems with the Family Tree Maker software that I've been using for more than 10 years. I did a live chat with the support group (which I now believe to not be the support for the real Mackiev company). They said the only way for them to help was to connect to my computer - which they did and then they fixed the issue. Afterward, they confirmed the purchase as follows: "You paid $449 for the Latest Family Tree 2023 24.2.2 with 5 years Updates + Software Support + Pre-booking for 2024 release". This came in an email from [email protected]. I called both phone numbers provided in the email - 1-844-475-2109 (this asks me to leave a voicemail, which I did) and 1-775-319-5408 (this one is always busy). I have also contacted them by email because I know that the 2024 release of the Family Tree Maker software is coming soon. I asked them how I ensure to get my download of the new update when it's available. I've not heard back from them from either the phone call message or the email I sent. I would like to warn other unsuspecting people of this scam in hopes of preventing them from losing money.
