My 86 year old mother received a call from 985-292-1224 from an individual claiming to be her son stating he was involved in an auto accident and although he himself had injuries, assaulted the other driver and was arrested for assault & battery and needed us to tell no one at all and to call his public defender Michael Kelly at 708-320-1051. I called and was told we needed to send cash in the amount of $7500 to bond him out of jail and that he would request the record sealed but it had to be paid immediately. When I questioned the amount he became rude and hung up on me. I called the number the original call came from and it was an Assisted Living Center and when I asked why this call came from them I was yet again hung up on. We live in NY, My brother who this call supposedly was from lives in Houston and the phone calls we received are from Chicago. Fortunately I was here to challenge this information or my mother's financials would have been compromised significantly
