Calls from digital activation department saying my small business is not showing up in Google searches. They call every single day from multiple different "local" numbers.

- Philadelphia, PA, USA • Apr 16, 2026

They always call me every single day multiple times daily and it never ends. They claim they are the "Digital Activation Department". I'm just a small business struggling to make ends meet and figured I should report at least one of the numbers they use to call. It's always different though. The voicemail they leave if I don't answer is always about 4 seconds and silent.

The callers identify themselves as calling from the Digital Activation Department and notify me that my business is not showing up on the top 5 voice search platforms (Google, Alexa, Siri, etc.). They confirm I am the business owner and ask me what keywords people may use to search for my business. They then do a search on their end and determine that "monthly fees are waived for my business" and that I "only have to pay a one-time activation fee of $99.99." I stated I have to run this by my compliance officer and the DAD representative states he has no number for me to call back; I have to complete this process on the phone right now. I told him if there is no way to run this by my compliance officer and call him back, then thanks for his time, but I would not be able to move forward. On a cursory web search, there are numerous sources citing the Digital Activation Department as a scam operation, so it appears they are attempting to take advantage of many other small business owners.

Digital activation department lol. They pull business numbers off of Google and claim they are seo managers for a subscription from Digital Activation Department. When you ask anything about the company they hang up

It's a scam operation. "Digital Activation Department" is not a real company — it's a name used by scammers specifically targeting small business owners. Multiple victims have reported receiving exactly what you're describing: frequent calls from different numbers, often from (907) 600-4384, claiming their business isn't showing up, often with agents speaking with heavy accents. Better Business Bureau

Why they won't name the search engines — because there's no real problem. These callers use high-pressure tactics to convince business owners they need to "activate" or "register" their presence immediately Simply Be Found, but it's all manufactured urgency. If they named specific platforms, you could check yourself and instantly disprove them.

How they operate: They use spoofed local numbers to trick businesses into answering, constantly rotating numbers so you can't block them. Simply Be Found The numbers constantly change, supervisors give names like "Tony," and they claim to be based in places like Fort Lauderdale.

Digital Activation Department calls from different numbers 702.356.3935- 201.204.1146- 201.204.1224- 201.204.5021- 201.204.5147- 201.204.5686- 203.516.9749- 203.516.9942- 203.516.9982- 203.516.5021 and hundreds more. They call three times a day and refuse to give me the number of the company they work for or remove me from their do not call list. All with Pilipino accent, which leads me to believe that they're located in the Philipines. They are harrasing and constantly disrupting my daily operations.

Over the last three days, I have received about 10 phone calls from people claiming to be with Digital Activation Department. They call from (206) 395-1514 and are based in Seattle, WA, USA. Each person speaks unclearly with a pronounced accent. They tell me my business is not registered and want to register me on some digital platform. When I try to get information, they are evasive. I have repeatedly told them I am not interested, but they persist. They call multiple times per day. They are aggressive and rude. They have hung up on me when I threaten to report them to the BBB. They have called from a variety of phone numbers.

Our university office is receiving upwards of 10 calls per day from various numbers claiming that they are some organization called the "Digital Activation Department." The calls often come from numbers like (918) 398-9490. It is incredibly disruptive to the work day.

I have been receiving multiple calls throughout the day from different numbers claiming to be from the 'Digital Activation Department,' saying that my business isn’t showing up. They call frequently, always with different people, often with accents. This started happening after I tried to get the business I work for listed with the BBB.
