I encountered a fraudulent Memorial Day sale on Facebook Marketplace advertising $29.99 sports sneakers, originally priced at ~$180. The scam involved a spoofed version of Dick’s Sporting Goods’ website. After attempting a purchase, the site collected information from three of my credit cards, but all transactions were blocked—suggesting my banks recognized the scam. I contacted Dick’s Sporting Goods, they confirmed the fraudulent listing and stated that Facebook Marketplace had not removed it despite their request. They advised you to replace your compromised cards, which you promptly did.
