A woman's voice came over the phone and said Hello, and asked if I could hear her, then apologized for having an issue with her headset. That's when it became clear that it was a recording and she started to state that I was eligible for some prize. I hung up before I could hear more detail.

I am familiar with this scam, but have to be honest in saying the recorded voice in the beginning sounded very real. I use my cell phone for business and have to take calls from numbers I do not recognize.

This just happened minutes ago, so I am not sure if they were able to capture enough information that would enable them to make fraudulent charges.

- Latonia, KY, USA

called my cell multiple times in a row..when I called back said" are you there"

Received multiple phone calls today (3/3/17) stating that their (name not given) records indicate that there is fraud and misconduct on my tax returns that I am trying to hide. When they called a second time, I answered and said hello but the person hung up so I tried calling the number back and received a busy tone.

- Mooresville, NC, USA

A young woman called from a local number and said "Hi this is Rachel, can you hear me?" to which I replies "Yes", then started offering a vacation package. I told her I wasn't interested and they wouldn't stop talking. I immediately hung up and realized it was a scam. I notified my phone company, but they said they couldn't do anything.

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

Received call from'emily' with customer service, no business name given, then asked if I could hear her ok. After replying yes I can hear you I realized it was a recording.

phone number appeared on my phone as being from Olmsted Falls (my place of residence), but I didn't recognize the number. When I answered, there was a slight delay then the person on the other end used my first name, asking if this was me, to which I answered yes. Then she launched into a resort offer. I couldn't cut her off, so I just hung up.

- Carrollton, TX, USA

answered the phone hoping it was a doctor returning a call. She said she was Heather and asked if I could hear her. (I know, I had read all about this scam but was caught.) She didn't say a business name but called ID said Seagoville TX. As soon as I said "Yes?" with the question in my voice, she hung up. I am so upset with me!!!

- Oviedo, FL, USA

Caller asked if I could hear her, to which I responded "yes" and she tried to tell me I won a prize. I am afraid I was a victim of the new "yes" scam.

The guy calling... using the area code around San Diego, asked if I could hear him

I answered "yes" that I could and he then hung up. Am so angry at my self, as I am aware

of this scam...just did not think before I said it.

Caller: Hi, this is Josh with customer service. Can you hear me ok?

- Lynchburg, VA, USA

I received a call saying I had won a grant for $9200. I needed to send $200 on an apple gift card. I hung up on them.

Can you hear me now

- Sacramento, CA, USA

Josh from cruise line asked if I could hear him.

- Broomfield, CO, USA

Call received February 8 at 10:25AM.

They said they were calling concerning an issue with my computer.

They called and asked several times "Can you hear me?" Then they hung up.

I don't know if they have used the word yes to get money yet.

- Jonesboro, IN, USA

I've received repeated calls with a recorded message asking me to get information about lowering my interest in my credit card. I pushed the pound sin to speak with a representative to ask to have my number removed. I did get a live person, a man, I asked to have my number removed and he asked if I could wait, said yes, and was put on hold, then hung up on. When I called the number back, it went to a female (named Erin) personal voicemail. I was then told by friends at work about the yes scam and fear and be out myself at risk.

I received a call from this number and a robotic voice said "hello?" I replied "yes" and then the phone went dead. I have heard of scammers calling and trying to get someone to say yes so they can record it and use it to sign up for products and services so I wanted to report it.

I received the call today 2/7/17 at 1:33pm

- Juda, WI, USA

"Can you hear me now" call.

- Levelland, TX, USA

I received a phone call and the first thing they said was can you hear me alright. I have been watching the news so I just hung up.

- Cardiff By The Sea, CA, USA

The voice asked if I could hear them. I stupidly replied yes, then a recorded message about a cruise or something. I fear its the scam of recording my voice saying yes.
