Total money lost $6,500
Type of a scam Worthless Problem-solving Service
I let my dreams and excitement get the better of me. Even during the initial stage, when they were just gathering information about my case, they asked me for money. I transferred $6,500 from Turkey to the personal account of the law firm’s owner—$4,000 for attorney and consultancy fees and $2,500 as the government fee for the visa application. However, I was never given an official invoice for this payment.
Due to the worsening economic conditions in my country, I couldn’t continue the process. I needed to spend around $4,000 more to generate the necessary media coverage for my case. Since I hadn’t even entered the application stage and had only gathered and submitted the information they requested, I informed them that I could not proceed and asked for a refund.
I didn’t even ask for the full amount back. After all, we had 3-4 video calls and exchanged emails, so I acknowledged that I received some service. I requested that they deduct the appropriate service fee and return the remaining balance. However, instead of providing an official explanation, they filled out a breakdown of costs however they pleased—charging me $300-$500 even for the information I had personally gathered and sent them—and refused to issue a refund.
Out of the $6,500, the $2,500 was supposed to be the government fee for the visa application. But I never even reached the application stage. They know very well that they did not provide me with $4,000 worth of services. They are using the online contract they made me sign in their own language to justify taking all of my money, essentially extorting me.
I am not trying to avoid paying for the services I received. I simply want a refund for the services I did not receive and will not receive.
