Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I found this company on the Internet while I was searching for surveys to apply for. They sent me a check in the amount $1874.00 with instruction on what to do with it. I was to cash the check, buy WalMart gift cards, take pictures of the gift cards with the back scratched off.
I did nothing.
I CALLED THE BANK TO SEE WHO THE CHECK BELONG TO AND WAS TOLD THIS IS CHECK IS NO GOOD. I HAD KNOW INTENTION OF PUTTING IT IN MY BANK AND SENDING ANYONE 1500.00 DOLLARS THESE PEOPLE MUST THINK EVERYONE IS STUPID. REMEMBER THE OLD SONG WHAT KIND OF FOOL DO YOU THINK I AM

I received a letter exactly like the one shown, but the check was from Bank of Oklahoma. I contacted that bank to see if it was a real check and the account number was real and then I asked about the dollar amount being available. It was a YES to both questions. I deposited the check, but I will Not spend any of the money or withdraw any either.
The thing that had me wondering was the fact that I had done some work as a Mystery Shopper for a company called "BEST MARK". I even went to their website and then the one setup by BEST MARKET MARK. They are set up identically! So it does throw you for a loop. Usually whenever there is a job to be done the company does NOT pay you up front...they expect us to pay and then turn in our reports before we get paid for the job and reimbursed for any expenses. So, I did NOT buy the 3 gift cards as instructed. I tried to call the phone number on that letter...but it was not in service! I also looked at the TEXT ONLY number that supposedly belonged to "David Clinton: and it did not match the text number when I was sent a text prior to getting the check. When attempting actually call either of those numbers the outgoing message simply states that the person has not set up their voice message yet. I have received (6) IX text messages asking me if I have completed my assignment yet. I tried responding by text to whomever it was sending it (after the 5th text) asking if they even knew who they were texting and stating I have not received any UPS packages...which was true at that time. I will contact my bank and see what's going on. Meanwhile I strongly urge anyone that gets these checks and letters to NOT buy any gift cards or try to cash out the check. IN fact if you do deposit I t by accident like I did then make sure to NOT use any of that money and contact your bank as soon as you can. I have attached a copy of that letter and the check too. Stay alert!

The next thing I knew I received a cashier’s check and a secret shopper assignment.
The assignment was to buy 3 $500 gift cards. Take picture of front. And back with the scratch off code revealed and email the images.
