Amazon Imposter Reports & Reviews (1444)

It started with an automated voice claiming something about fraud on my amazon account and to press 1 to be directed to the fraud department. I was then connected with a woman who gave me her name and ID number and claimed someone had used my account to buy a new iPhone for a price over $300 dollars. When I stated I didn't see it on my order list she said it was from an experienced hacker who used software to keep it from showing up on my account. When I asked for proof or a call back number she was not able to give one but frantically stated that if I didn't fill out the form within 30 minutes I would not be able to refund my money. I took a "chance" and hung up and contacted amazon who said my account was fine and it was fraud. The really odd thing is when I called the number back that they used it led to the bbb.org's call center. Just be aware.

Caller said they were with Amazon, that someone with last name of Martin in New York hacked my Amazon account and bought an iPhone for $899. They wanted me to go through several steps to fix the problem. Heavy accent, lots of background noise.

The person represented themselves as an employee of Amazon on-line shopping services. They stated that they were verifying a recent purchase on my Amazon account of an I-Phone. The location for the shipment was not known to me, but I did not tell the representative anything at that point. They wanted to verify the order and confirm estimated delivery time. I informed them that I did not order such a product. They stated that they would be able to help me with a stop payment request and instigate a claim against the charge. They wanted to know how I accessed my Amazon acct....i.e. by phone, tablet, laptop, etc... I at that point, I informed them that I would contact Amazon directly myself and not through their phone call since I could neither verify that they were actually working for Amazon or that any such charge existed to my account. **No such charge existed. It was a scam to collect my Amazon information. AMAZON CLIENT BEWARE!!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon, saying that I ordered an iPhone 8 for about $200 and that it has already been billed and shipped. I called them back at the same number they called me, 6198542293, because I never ordered and iPhone and do not want one. The guy I spoke with was rude and said that I did order it. I also tried to speak with a supervisor but it sounded like I was still speaking to the same man who was threatening and verbally abusive. They said they charged my account by the account linked to Amazon is not a valid account anymore. I told him he was being recorded because I knew this is a scam and he got even more angry and rude, then hung up. I called Amazon and gave them the phone #, they said that it's not linked to them whatsoever.

The scam. A recorded call staying their is a phone being shipped out tomorrow or today by Amazon on your account would you verify. An operator gets on and trying to pump you for info. This happen twice so far, the first call I told the person doesn't live at this number remove me, they hung up. The second call I ask for a contact number again hinging up. Unknown if they ask for money, hinging up when I start to question them for contact information. If they're from Amazon why not give Amazon contact information.

Scammer said his name is Ricardo Martinez with amazon with an ID number of 4524. He said someone used my Amazon account to order an iPhone for $349.99. He then said in order to refund the money I needed to install two different apps on my cell phone. One was cash app and the other wasquick support. These were to be downloades from Google Play Store. One app, the cash app wanted to link to a bank account. It was at that point that I realized this was a scam and immediatly ended the call and uninstall the apps. Also he claimed the the fruadlent charged was in California.

Turned on my TV to watch a movie on Amazon Prime Video. There was a page on my TV that said I needed to enter a code. Not expecting anything wrong I entered the code. The next page said my code had been stolen, I had tried to enter it too many times, and several other options. Unfortunately, I did not write this number down. I called and was told that he, Daniel R, was a representative of Amazon. I explained the problem and was told that there was something wrong with my computer that was not allowing the Code to be entered. Like a fool I allowed them access to my lap top. They showed me all of the address, for the past two years, that were on my PC. He said that they were connected to my PC the same way that we were presently. He said Amazon would clean my computer for free, and they were offering a fire wall that would keep out trogons and all other infectious intrusions. I went along, choosing the seven year plan for, I think, $288. Someone else got on my computer and started, looked like, cleaning my computer. I had trouble with my credit card so this guy asked me to call the bank, he hung up while the other guy continued cleaning. At this time I called Amazon, and they told me that this wasn't them, Amazon. The phone started ringing incessantly, the Amazon guy told me not to answer and to turn off my PC as well as my TV. After I turned my PC back on, I noticed the scammers icon, I clicked on it, and got the name Daniel R. and the #J53LGENRS8DGOAJ. There was a box that asked, "Do you think this is a fraud?" Something like that, when I clicked this box the telephone stopped ringing and and they left my computer. This was one of the slickest scam operations I have ever experienced or have heard of.

Adult male with foreign accent called my land line and stated that Jackson Cooper from Rhode Island charged $399 on my Visa card. Asked me to call back him back at 1-909–308-2204. They asked for my email address so they could reverse the charge. I hung up.

I checked with my credit card company and there were no charges or pending charges from Amazon in that amount.

I have been receiving robocalls from Amazon on my cell phone. The message stated we will be charging your account $200 for Amazon monthly membership. It said press one to speak with an operator. I pressed one. I asked the person that answered what the membership fee was for. She said it was for various discounts. I did not allow them to ask for money. I told them not to bother me. Take me off your calling list. The number in my caller ID was 209-667-2660. I do have Amazon Prime so I questioned this. They called again about billing my account $549. I pressed number one again to speak with a representative. He said it was for an Amazon i phone two. I called Amazon. They did not make the call. I did not pay any money or give any personal information.

Called a foreign accent man John Wilson asked about an order I did not place 2 days ago from SC for head phones. Offered to help had me install task viewer on my computer then wanted the default user name and password. He assured me he was helping solve my fake order problem and was not happy I wouldn't give him the information. I told him I was done and calling Amazon. Amazon assured me no order had been placed and told me what my last order correctly was and that they didn't do business by calling my home but by email
