Applied for the data entry position, was hired. I received a check for 9k, was told to deposit it and $300 would be mine as a sign on bonus. The remainder of the amount would be to purchase the equipment needed for the position. I went to the bank and they said the check is a fraud.

I applied for a position through a job posting on Indeed. They asked me to contact them via Microsoft Teams. I have just contacted them and they said they do their interview process via Instant Messaging. This raised red flags for me. I looked online while reading their messages and see that they have been reported previously so they are still going after people.
