I sent my application out through Career Builder's 'auto apply' feature and was contacted by a company claiming to be AKKA Technologies.

They are a company based in Paris but with offices all over the world. They texted me that I had posted my resume on CareerBuilder and that I was qualified for their Data Entry/Admin Assistant position. This position provided an excellent benefits package and $30/hr with 40 hour weeks, flexible schedule, PTO, and paid holidays. This all seemed too good to be true, but I hoped it was legit. They requested that I respond to the text with 'yes I am interested' which I did and they proceeded to set up an interview over Google Hangouts. I went through their interview process. First, this did not raise many red flags as they did not ask for any information that was not already provided on basic resumes. They told me to contact them promptly at 8:30am the next morning to get an update and so I did. They informed me then that I got the job, but they immediately emailed me a check and told me to mobile deposit it to purchase my home office equipment as this was a data entry from home job.

When I told them it would take me a few hours to get to a printer, they became pushy and told me to immediately go to a library to print it off and deposit it. I told them I was at my current job and could not leave and so they told be I could wait until I got off of work. The fact that they wanted me to immediately print off and mobile deposit the check without putting me through any HR on boarding procedures threw up some red flags. As my step-mother works for Wells Fargo bank, I sent the correspondence to her and sent her a picture of the emailed check and upon her reviewing the check, it appears as though the address given does not match with any company address.

This is when I cut off communications with the individuals. I did not deposit the check and my step-mother suspects that they would attempt to launder the money through me by asking for the money back immediately though the check would most likely bounce in a few days.

The exact same thing happened to me. I received a check immediately the next morning which was weird because they mentioned they would call me the next morning and give me the tracking #. Thank God I had a discussion with my friend about this job and we did some research and read reviews. Now here I am adding to say this is definitely a scam. I tore up the check and deleted Hangout app.

He offered me a job where the headquarters are in Paris France, asked me a bunch of questions regarding myself and then sent a check for $3,900 and was persistent about me depositing it. I told him I wanted to speak with the bank first and he kept pushing me to deposit it. I never deposited it.

They had me do 2 "interviews" on google hangouts and said they were sending a check to cover expenses for office programs. It was an entry level job for $30 an hour from home. I guess my desperation for a good job got the best of me.

Contacted by a company recruiter who had seen my resume posted on LinkedIn. Job offer was nearly immediately after conducting an "online" interview through Google Hangouts / Skype. Information requested was basic name, address, email, and phone, one even wanted to know my sex and age. Both companies, AKKA Technologies and BMD Group are based over seas but reportedly were opening a location "in my area" in the near future. Both were to pay me for setting up in home offices and paying me for training. From all that I have read on the ScamPulse.com website, this is all a SCAM. of course, I asked the prospective employer about it, and they stated that they hate scammers, and understand my hesitancy. HA! Needless to say, If it sounds to good to be true".... and in this case I believe that the gut instinct should also be followed... don't fall for this SCAM!

I’m going through that right now. I did the interview Friday May 29 2020. They had me set up through a messenger app called wire app. They said I am going to receive a MacBook Pro and a check to buy software. And I am to take out $150 as a sign on bonus and use the rest to buy software through an approved vendor. I’m glad I continued to research which I wasn’t going to try to deposit no check until the computer arrived just to make sure they were legit
