Received new visa credit card from ***** Bank included was a letter to call 800 708 2736 upon receipt. Called this number thinking it was to activate card, Person answered and said I had qualified for a $100. gift card ask him why he replied Due to technical difficulties this was an apology to card holders, he assured me I would not be enrolling in anything, however, there was an activation charge of $2.58 said I never heard of this to activate card, said it was for the gift card and wanted to know if I wanted a debit or credit to my new card..

said following conversation would be recorded for verification and it said you must be over 18 to receive so please state your birthday, which I very foolish did. After hanging up I had reservations about this call. I called my banker at ***** Bank and he said this number was not a ***** Bank number and he would put out an alert. Called the number on the back of the card and she said it was a scam and to cut up card. I took letter the letter to ***** Bank thinking they would want to make a copy, but they did not. My question to them is how a scammer could put this letter in a credit card mailed by ***** bank. This has really upset me. Now I am fearful they will do something else. Not confident ***** is doing anything about this.
