Type of a scam Employment

I added my resume to careerbuilder.com and was contacted via text for a job interview. I was instructed via text to contact HR Henry Bradely at 252-419-4194 to conduct the interview via the app Telegram. I saved the contact and set a message. Speaking to Mr. Bradely for a couple hours where I was offered the job nd told I would need to purchase materials/programs/equipment. I was then emailed a check for $4850.87 to mobile deposit into my account for purchasing said materials and equipment. I called the bank to verify the funds and legitimacy of the check and the bank informed me no such account exists and the company had been flagged as a fraud. Mr. Bradely was adamant I deposit the money and it was legal and legitimate. I declined the offer and told him not to contact me again that I was reporting of fraudulent activity. He has not responded back.
