Being independent artists most of you know that starting a successful small business can be extremely difficult. While it can be rewarding to build and grow, it can also be stressful, especially in those moments when you're hanging by a thread. Right now I'm having another one of those moments with 31 Records. In the past I've been able to get through them, at this point I'm left with no options.
31's getting evicted. Not our office, we've already lost that. I'm being evicted from my home.
This year has been the hardest for my family and I. My wife is 9 months pregnant and was diagnosed with Lupus this year, making her a high risk pregnancy. She's essentially bed ridden, some days she can't walk at all, let alone help out with our home and family. This pregnancy has been so bad on her that we've decided not have anymore kids. Between having to take care of her and our 2 year old son, 31's been taking some set backs this year. That's fine, happens to every business but now we've hit a roadblock.
Last month, money was so tight that we lost our California office. We decided to move back to Las Vegas where it was cheaper and we could find a space bigger than our studio apartment since the baby is coming. The day we moved we received word from Stripe, our credit card processing company, that our account was being closed and our funds were being held for 90 days. We were expecting over $750 last week, now we won't get it until the end of December. Imagine someone taking away your paycheck with a day's notice. That was our cushion for a better life here in Vegas with our new baby coming, now we're scraping by. Since then I've been scrambling to work as much as I can, trying to sign as many artists as I can, but it hasn't been enough. We're now a few hours away from rent being due and a few hundred bucks short.
I've never done this in my life before and hope that I never have to again but we desperately need your help. If there's anything I can do to return the favor please let me know. Those who help us now will be generously rewarded. We won't forget those who offered a hand when we needed it most.
