We had worked with Maria Villamar (aka Maria Deshayes) at Paper Doll Interiors (DBA Designer Window Fashions) in 2022 and had a good experience. In January 2024, I reached out via email to Maria Villamar to ask for a new quote. The email bounced back so I reached out via the Hunter Douglas website for a dealer in Pasadena, and Maria texted me right away. Maria texted me that she was available for a consultation that next day. She and her associate Myrna came to my house, measured my windows, and gave me a quote. Since one of the windows we were working on was in my nursery, Maria recommended we hold on selecting that curtain, since we didn't know the gender of the baby yet. That made me trust her more. We corresponded over the next two weeks while I tried to lower the price via text. When I agreed to the price and terms, they tried to send me the invoice via email, but it was not working for some reason. They eventually got me a contract, so I signed the invoice and paid in check to gain additional discounts. The check was cashed the next day (Jan 26, 2024).

When I reached out for an update on the curtains all emails that had worked in Jan 2024 bounced back. When I called the office number on Google, it went straight to VM. Calling Maria direction it went straight to VM. Texting went from blue messages (iPhone) to green messages. Their website was down. I went to their location and the door was locked.

I eventually found Myrna Garcia, the former associate that worked at DWF. She shared that Maria had disappeared. She also shared that the day after my check was deposited, someone had withdrawn all the money and checks (as low as $100) were starting to bounce.

When I research Maria Deshayes and her husband Vincent Deshayes, they are actively being sued in Arizona and New York. They are also being sued by multiple businesses and former employees.

Vincent and Maria buy up window covering businesses and then disappear. These businesses require large up-front deposits, so there is significant cash flow. They are currently opening up this scheme in Nevada.

I found Vincent on LinkedIn and sent him a message. He blocked me several hours later.

They are doing business under the following names:

- Scottsdale WIndow Coverings

-Fine Food INc

-Baileys Blinds

-Windows and Beyond

-Paper Doll Design

-Ardys Custom Workshop

-Nevada WIndow Fashion LLP
