A sponsored ad popped up on Facebook Market place for excavating equipment. It was an incredibly good deal on a backhoe worth $40k. They offered it for $9400 WITH FREE DELIVERY anywhere in the US! With FREE RETURNS if Im not satisfied. But the money has to be wire transferred funds to what they claim is an escrow account. I checked and it is not an escrow. I asked if I can instead fly to SC and inspect the equipment myself and ship it home. They said yes. I verified so all the equipment you have in stock is on site and ready for inspection? They said yes. With that verified I called the Columbia Police department and asked if they can verify this business or send someone there to verify. They said yes but they have done this numerous times and its always the same result. They sent someone out and its a vacant lot and building. No business there and no equipment. I called the main office which is all ran off shore and phones are answered by people that do not speak English. They are still sending me emails and messages to find out when Im wiring the money. I have all their legal documents that were emailed to me such as wire transfer info, IRS tax ID forms with TIN#s. SC state articles of organization. All this to scam people into thinking they are a legit business based here in the US. Im sure countless people have lost millions to this scam and would like to stop others from falling victim.
