Received a text from Wesbanco fraud department asking if I had attempted a purchase of $1500 on PayPal reply yes or no. I replied no, text said a representative will be in touch shortly. The man called and said he was with the Wesbanco fraud department and someone was trying to use my debit card at multiple stores. They asked me to log onto my account and change my password. They then sent a text with a code to give them verifying it was me. They proceeded to take mine and my son’s money and put it together. Ultimately used his debit card to transfer the $450 to cashapp. Then he put it into bitcoin. My bank has still not given me my money back even though it was online banking fraud. Let me add that the text and phone call are the usual way that the real bank fraud department does things. So it sounded and looked very legitimate.
