Volaris Group-Imposter Reports & Reviews (1)

- Stratford, CT, USA • Apr 04, 2025

I was first contacted by text message from 301-276-0719, saying they had seen my resume and were interested in my skills. The texter identified themselves as Lisa Read, HR Manager at Volaris Group. They sent me a list of openings they had, and set up an "interview" via MS Teams instant message. The conversation was rather stilted, but I just thought they were using boilerplate language since they probably did lots of these. They did respond to questions I asked. They sent me a series of questions to answer, most were pretty standard interview questions - "How would you handle conflict with a team member?" "Please describe your experience with data management?" - but some struck me as kind of weird. They asked who my cellular phone provider was, and whether or not I was on a prepaid plan. They also asked who my bank was and how long I'd been banking there. They also said that I would be required to have a Macbook Pro 16" to do my remote work, and that the way I would get this Macbook is that they would send me the money and then I would be responsible for buying it.

It didn't really occur to me how sketchy all of this was until hours later, I was too excited at the prospect of a job to really question things at first. But later when the weirdness was really starting to get to me, I went back to our Teams chat, and I noticed that the "Ms. Lisa Read" I'd been talking to listed her email address as "[email protected]" The real Volaris Group does not have an S at the end of their address. That pretty much convinced me it was a scam, but then I did a search and found a ScamPulse.com report of someone else who was victim of the same scam.
