I received a text saying i have a job opportunity then to add someone on telegram. The person on Telegram gave me "Interview" then proceeded to tell me to add a supervisor on Skype. The skype guy then was trying to steal my personal info and around $2,000.

Applied for an online data entry job via the Grabjob job board. I was quickly shortlisted and sent my number to be later contacted. I was instructed to download telegram and skype to contact the interviewer and training manager. Once hired, I filled out the standard background check, W4, and employee agreement. I was then sent a 4000 check to deposit and buy supplies with. My checking account didn't allow for deposits over the given amount, so I didn't do it. I went to 2 different banks to see if the check was fraudulent. The first one said something along the lines of yes and the second one said probably could be. I did research on fake jobs, checks, etc, and decided not to continue. I told the hiring manager of my inability to deposit and that I couldn't continue and he simply said okay. No proper resigning, etc. It was very sketchy and rushed even if it was a real job. Although I had already shared more information with them than necessary, I'm glad I didn't go through with the entire process.
