Sur La Table charged unauthorized $25 fee via SmartyPlus
After completing a legitimate purchase on the Sur La Table website, a co-branded interface trickily passed my debit card billing data, email, and personal information directly to SmartyPlus without my clear, explicit, and informed consent. I never filled out a separate payment or enrollment form for SmartyPlus.
As a direct result of Sur La Table's predatory checkout setup, my card was immediately charged an unauthorized recurring fee of $25. This constitutes a deceptive "dark pattern" designed to exploit customer trust.
I demand that Sur La Table interface with their partner to ensure an immediate refund of my $25, cancel this hidden account completely, and cease sharing customer financial tokens without unambiguous authorization.
