received a suspicious text message on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 8:12 AM from the number 91651, claiming to be from Shepherd Outsourcing, a debt collector for The Bank of Missouri (Fortiva Credit Card) on behalf of Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. The message stated it was an attempt to collect a debt and provided a link (https://portal.shepherdoutsourcing.com/s/AE0LO) to visit, along with a phone number (888-991-5696) to call. It also mentioned a reference number (SOG Ref# 1000049355) and urged me to reply or act quickly, saying, "We have limited time to work."

I have no knowledge of this debt, and the message lacks specific details about the amount owed or my account. After researching, I found a ScamPulse.com report of someone flagging Shepherd Outsourcing for a similar fraudulent debt collection attempt, and a Reddit post on r/CRedit raised similar concerns about a text from "Shepard Outsourcing." The use of a shortcode (91651) and pressure tactics also seem suspicious. I did not click the link or respond, as I suspect this may be a scam. I’m reporting this to help others avoid potential fraud and to seek further investigation.

Shepherd Outsourcing LLC , claiming to be texting on behalf of some company called Jefferson Capital Systems LLC, keeps texting that I have an old debt which may be reported to crediting agencies. I have never had any contact with Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. I do not have any current or unpaid old debt nor am I in dispute with anyone about any unpaid debt. The text messages arrive with a 5 digit phone number which is impossible for me to trace. I have identified the text messages as junk mail on my phone but since they use a new 5 digit phone number each time I cannot block the messages. This definitely seems to be a scam.
