I recieved a call and voicemail fron caller id - (833) 556-8279 - I called because apparently they called an old employer as well. I spoke with a lady who failed to id herself, claims that they were going to serve me with paperwork but did not tell me what type of paperwork, and why? She wanted me to verify personal info which I did not. Then she hhung up in my face. I called back 11 times and continued to hang up in my face. Finally, I reached another lady that refused to tell me what this matter was pertaining to, states atty Mark Hernandez was handlikng this matter. I asked for an address and fax number - she refused to give it to me, but instead transfered me to a voicemail which was full. I hung up and called back and again someone answered and hung up in my face 8 times. I looked up the company and the first thing that comes up is FRAUD!

A person claiming to be a process server called me on May 28th 2019 at 11:10am and said they are trying to serve me. They use my maiden name and my parents address. I did not tell them my married name and I did not give them my address. They told me to call Schmitt and Associates Law Firm back at 877-857-6089 and give them case #567995. I told them I would have my lawyer call. I did a little research on them and it turns out they have been scamming people quite a bit. I'm not sure exactly what this scam is about or what it's related to but as soon as he told me that he was serving me legal papers and a subpoena I knew something was terribly wrong especially when they used my maiden name and an address that I haven't been at in 8 years. I got a really bad feeling about this phone call. I don't know if they were going to attempt to take money but based on other internet reviews that's what this scam seems to do.

I received a call from an unknown # stating they were verifying my name and address to serve a court summons. I was told to contact Schmidt and Associates for more information at 855-716-4852 and that they would hold the summons service till I contacted them. I spoke to Henry Reed with Schmidt and Associates. He informed me that he sent a letter in June and I had not responded. He then accused me of lying about receiving the letter. He gave me an account # to use to contact Check Mate about a payday loan taken out in September of 2007 that I made payments on for 11 months. He informed me that they would put the civil action on hold if I agreed to make payments, and that Check Mate wanted over $4400.00 to settle this, but that he could do it for $1500.00.

I contacted Check Mate and was told that they would have no records from an account that old. They also told me that they had nothing to do with this collection attempt.

I cannot find a physical address for this company, and when I asked for it he said he would send me another letter.
