Government agency imposter scam for student loan consolidation
I received a letter in the mail indicating I could consolidate my student loans. The letter made it seem like they were with the FSA.gov program. I called and they already had a lot of my personal information to include my SSN & loan info so I thought they were legit. They requested a service fee of $999.00 that could be spread out into 3 payments. They asked for my bank account & routing number. I gave it to them without thinking. All their paperwork looked right but once I finished everything, something wasn't sitting right with me. At that point I looked them up to find out I was in fact scammed. I called them out and immediately took action so they weren't able to take anything (so far).
