I retained Rob Monk to do decking, and inside painting of my residence. I provided payment for materials and he completed some of the interior painting which was not well done. I then discovered he stole the majority of my jewelry, banking info, and kids piggy banks. The materials were never delivered. I have taken him to small claims and he is currently in the provincial court system with court date scheduled for April.

If there are this many people who have recently been robbed by Rob, surely there are many, many more. He answered my Kijiji Ad to get help with fencing. We lost $1375 and an auger in the deal. I would like to see something happen so he doesn't keep doing this to people.

We're a contractor down in Bridgewater NS. We hired him to do a foundation lift for us back in April 2021. He required $5,000 down payment. Never showed to do the job. The homeowners have since found someone else to do it and we've lost $5,000. I've been in numerous conversations with him, listened to numerous excuses..he had a heart attach and waiting for payables to come in. Can only reach him on the phone if I call from a different phone number.
We're starting proceedings to take him to court and issue a judgement on him - although his words "good luck with that, I don't own anything for you to put a judgement against" Going to also try the root of going through CRA and issuing a claim for fraud. Again not sure if anything will/can be done.
It's people like THIS that make is so unbelievably hard for honest, decent contractors to run a business and so hard for homeowners to trust contractors. I feel so bad for all the home owners he's taking advantage of as well. This guys needs to be stopped from ripping off anyone else. There just needs to be ways to do this legally. He should be arrested for theft and it's absolutely ridiculous that he isn't.

He replied to me ad for a WETT certified stove installer. After I sent him $300 deposit he had excuses for not showing up twice. Then I got suspicious and googled his number and this site came up. I realized I was another victim and called him out and asked for my deposit back. After sending a number of texts I emailed him a CBC story of another guy who ripped of people's deposits and went to prison. He then sent my deposit back. Everyone should get together and email [email protected] and call the police to stop this guy

Rob Monk replied to my ad on Kijiji to build a hot tub pad at my new home, and move the hot tub to it for me. Simple crushed stone and some patio blocks. I asked for references, and got one. Obviously someone else in on his scams as they gave a wonderful review. He asked for a % down to buy supplies. I have done this in the past with other contractors, so went ahead and did it this time. Then one excuse after another. Delays in getting supplies. Delays at another project. Broken axel on his trailer. I told him I found someone else and wanted my money back. All gone quiet. I wish I had knew about this site before hand. I have had great luck with finding high quality people online before. feel petty stupid for trusting this one. And furious to know he is doing this to so many others and getting away with it.

June this year he took $13,500 from us for a garage reno. They tore off half of it and left it uncovered. Some of the tar paper scrapings fell inside and when it rains, the garage floods and now the scrapings are all over the place. They left an open stove pipe also. They had to re-tar paper it twice as the tar paper kept coming off. Still nothing. Always tomorrow which never comes or they plan a day when it is going to rain. A wet lawn tractor, leave blower, push mower and 10 speed bikes all wet when it rains. It was to be 10 days. I would like his info too. [email protected]. Thanks.

He scammed us for $1375 (25% of the job). Sent 3 guys out (who cased us) and they dug 21 holes for posts at less than the depth we asked for. Won't answer calls or texts.

He took $2500 from me as a prepayment to demolish and remove an old farm house we own. After 6 weeks of excuses and lies we had to fire him and take Rob to court. He no-showed. We won the case by default. The judge said unfortunately recovering any portion of our money is going to be difficult.

This creep replied to my Kijiji ad for a fence. March 25 2021 gave him a cheque for 1600.00 to purchase the materials. He ran this cheque right to my bank and paid 30.00 bucks to cash it in a hurry. Then the chase was on. So many excuses. Heart attack car accident hernia Home Depot messing up big time. Then the bull flowed. Money back did not arrive in a etransfer . Watch this guy. I will continue to dig up what I can find on this creep.

Robert monk replied to my request for a snow removal contractor. I posted an ad on Kijiji for snow removal. I paid him $300. to plow my driveway for half of the season. He didn't plow for one reason or another and has stopped contact with me after promising to return my money. I gave up on him several months ago. How do you take someone to court that you can't find?
