Email received stating I had purchased Bitcoin and there was a bill due for $1200 to be charged to my PayPal account. It gave me a number to call if I did not make this purchase and after verification of a fraudulent purchase, my money would be refunded within 6 hours. I did not call the number and I did verify with my creditor that no charges were made.

I looked for the PayPal Customer Service number on the PayPal.com website and called it to check on a PayPal charge I had made but not completed. When I called that number with my iPhone, a man with an East-Indian accent answered and negated the incomplete charge. Then he informed me that someone was trying to use my account to buy cryptocurrency. I saw the pending charges on my PayPal app ($1400 and $4000) and was alarmed. Because I trusted that the situation was real (it was not), I gave the scammer my personal information and even temporary control of my phone with AnyDesk and LibertyX. The cryptocurrency transactions may or may not have been real, but I did lose personal id and credit card information.About $1500 was charged to my Amex. I also bought into the urgency of the supposed cryptocurrency transactions to the point of buying gift cards to the tune of $1500. However, suspecting by that time that I was being scammed, I went to the local police station and reported the scam.

I have reported the theft to the FTC and the Inspector General and to PayPal. PayPal's website and AI customer service directed me to their Fraud Report number. When I called, the person who answered, also with an East-Indian accent, insisted she could not help me unless I gave her my complete Social Security Number. When I would not, she terminated the call. I then call the PayPal Customer Service number listed as their official: ###-###-####, and again was asked by a recorded answering voice for my complete SSN before I could be helped. I filed a fraud report with PayPal via a form on their website and was informed that no transactions had taken place "beyond the usual."

I am very concerned that other people will call the PayPal Customer Care number(s), including those listed on their OFFICIAL website and be defrauded of their personal information and more.

Email stating a “send payment request” had been made. Went directly to PayPal from browser. Suspect an account breach. Had me download software and tried to get me to logon to bank account. Used antivirus scan and did not logon to bank account. PayPal will not let me close account without sending a picture, which I think is a security risk.

I was trying to resolve a paypal issue. Their listing appeared at the top of a GOOGLE search. I didnt realize it said "sponsored". And paypal was below 3 listings. It directs you to call. No website. Tgey pretend to be IT. 855 -631-8050. Steven and Dyllon and others will answer. Givce different phone #'s to call back. 346-340-1184, 346-502-3728, 855-812-4430, 888-392-5509, 786-842-7308. What they do is pretend to sole an issue. Ask you to share a screen via anydesk or Zoho Assist apps. Then they take money from your account by transfering it to "verification" accounts. . They actually are just trying to steal money as quick as possible. They promise to return it once your issue is resolved. Luckily BofA froze my acvount after 1 payment. They blocked 5 more.

I received an email that I had an invoice that wasn’t paid for$950. I called the 802 area code number and they answered they were paypal. They said it was for a laptop.

I said I didn’t order one. They said I had a scam on my account from Columbus,Ohio.

How is that what is said so quickly and if there is why would they say at first that I have an invoice if something is a scam.

But I didn’t say anything to see what else they had to say.

They said they needed to see what was going wrong and to open my APP. I suddenly remembered they can access things if you open APPS and things. And I faltered. But then I remembered it was a different account than I use at all. The one spoken about had problems from other issues and I couldn’t use it. So that probably wouldn’t even be true someone could try to bill me.

I said to him that my PayPal APP opens a different account and he hung up on me!

Several letters addressed to me were sent to my mom's house saying I was overdue on credit card payments. The letters said they were from PayPal/Synchrony Bank. I have a PayPal account, but I never signed up for a credit card through them. My account also has a different address listed than the one they sent the letters to. I have called PayPal customer service twice and was told both times that this it is a scam and to ignore the letters.

Scammer attempted to remove money from a former PayPal account that has been closed for several years

- Silver Spring, MD, USA

The scammer is using a flaw in PayPal which allows them to send from [email protected].

Improper vetting of sellers on PayPal.

I received what appeared to be a legitimate PayPal invoice, from a company with which I was unfamiliar. I reported the invoice to [email protected].

Email states: "Here's your notice

Microtik LLC sent you an invoice for $563.00 USD with a link stating 'View and Pay Notice'.

Buy now. Pay over time.

Simply select PayPal Credit at checkout and enjoy. No interest if paid in full in 6 months. Subject to credit approval. See terms. US customers only."

I received an invoice from PayPal for Microtik LLC. There is no other information attached to the invoice, just a dollar amount they want me to pay. I cannot find a record of this company at all.

I was sent an email from the [email protected] address regarding an unpaid invoice. There was a number to call if this seem inaccurate. I called the number and in their attempt to troubleshoot, conned me out of the $1917. I have phone numbers and call recordings to back this up, The claimed they worked for PayPal, but obviously did not.

They used the phone numbers 612 813 9881 & 612 444 4232.

Then then flooded my phone with calls and attempts to take even more money from me.
