Beware of “Package Data Services” – Unsolicited Packages Scam
They called our front desk asking basic questions like what printer model we use. Our staff answered because it sounded like a routine supply inquiry. We NEVER placed an order, never requested anything, and didn’t authorize any shipment.
A few days later, a box with printer cartridges shows up addressed to us. We assumed it was a mistake and left it unopened. Two weeks later, they send an invoice demanding payment.
When we contacted them to dispute it and explain that no one ordered anything, the only thing they kept sending back was a “proof of delivery,” which means nothing because we receive many packages as part of daily operations. They can’t provide any written order, approval, or purchase request from us—because none exists.
This is a classic unsolicited merchandise scam.
If your business gets a suspicious call asking about your printer or office supplies, be careful. Don’t confirm anything unless you actually know who’s calling and why.
We’re now reporting this as unsolicited merchandise and refusing payment. Just wanted others to avoid this headache.
