I got the [email protected] email today through our website contact. She wanted bookkeeping services. I will delete it but I am so glad I researched before I bothered responding! See the message details below:

Linda Van just submitted your form: Contact

Message Details:
First Name: Linda Van
Phone: 7173783572
Email: [email protected]
Subject: Bookkeeper service
Message: I need your Bookkeeper service

I received a random email to our receptionist about bookkeeping services for printing checks. The content and requests of these services were almost identical to some of others experience here. After requesting a phone number to discuss, instead I was emailed back with questions, completely ignoring my request for a phone number. After several back and forth emails, Linda Knowles requested that I send her an invoice to her for $5,500 to get started. This all seemed highly suspicions at this time so I sent her a new client form to fill out. While I waited for this, I did some searching and I found this site. I also found a website for the actual Linda Knowels, and upon visiting it, there was a message at the top of the screen that someone was using their company name and information to scam people.

DO NOT do business with this person.

I had the same type of experience with "Linda Knowles". She told me she needed her offices cleaned 3 x per week and wanted cleaning supplies to be stored there in her office. I asked her the type of business she had and she stated it was "event planning". She said she wanted the office cleaned a deep clean first and then weekly. When I ran the office address where she said her business was located it was a Planet Fitness gym. She is most definitely a scammer I just hope anyone she comes in contact with does their homework and not be so trustworthy. She did teach me to do my research and if it sounds "fishy" then it probably is.

I got the same email as above with local office addresses. The scammer sent a check and kept asking that I deposit it. I never did, but told her I did. She then sent the following message:

"The owner of the office to renovate just contacted me that he will only need a before renovation photo service and said the second service is no more needed that he come around to check my work when it is renovated

Which means you will only keep 50%($2,257) of the total payment sent to you and refund the balance of 50%.

-----------
I asked that the owner contact me so that we could work out the details directly. Later, someone claiming to be "Roger Lamm" phoned from (786) 749-0371 and left a message indicating that he was the building owner. However, I had already done the due diligence to find out who really owned the buildings and it wasn't this guy.

I reported all this to the FTC Fraud Reporting Web page and encourage others to do the same. Perhaps with help, they can put a stop to this nonsense.

I received an email from Linda Knowles with the email [email protected] that said "I need your Photography in ______, __" and nothing else so I emailed back asking for more info and the response was this: (I erased my city, state)

"I got a contract to renovate some offices and I will need you to visit those offices and take Photos Both Interior / Exterior stills (50 per property)

I will want you to shoot every angle you feel is needed to show the property’s best features

I can work with your available date to do it.

Do you know about Online invoice payment request?

Do the estimate and reply to me back with your total cost."

I thought this was already sketchy so I asked more questions and this person wouldn't tell me the name of their business, just kept saying "my own business" "I work for myself" and when I asked if they'd be on sight to unlock the doors they said "Keys will be mailed to you" uhhh what? so I immediately said "Sorry I'm not able to help you with this job" and blocked the email address.

Glad I found this page to share it with other people who get this message! I hope no one falls for these scams :(

Same thing happened to me here in Cincinnati. She quit responding after I made sure she understood to place the work order on line and pay.

I received an email from her saying:
I need your photography In Beaverton, OR

I enquired further asking what kind of session is she looking for:

She sent me this :
I got a contract to renovate some offices and I will need you to visit those offices and take Photos Both Interior / Exterior stills (50 per property)

I will want you to shoot every angle you feel is needed to show the property’s best features

First Office Location:14355 SW Allen Blvd, Beaverton, OR 97005

Second office Location:2540 SW Alan Blumlein Rd, Beaverton, OR 97005

Third Office Location: 18879 SW Tualatin Valley Hwy, Beaverton, OR 97003

4-Forth Office Location: 21325 SW Tualatin Valley Hwy, Beaverton, OR 97003

Each are 4 office rooms/2 bathroom: 10' x 15' (6,000 sq ft) in total

I can work with your available date to do it.

Do you accept ACH Payment?

Do the estimate and reply to me back with your total cost.

I then sent her info but asking more questions before giving an actual quote and I require my clients to fill in a contract and pay a deposit fee. I sent an estimated amount.

She emailed back saying send me your name, address, cell number and total cost to mail you your check.

I found it odd with the way she approached me, I've had something similar before.

I had a feeling something is off and searched her mail address and came accross this scampse page.

I will block her email and added my experience as a reference.

So glad I saw this, these scammers are just scary and I'm still establishing myself.
I already use robo caller and get numerous scam calls.

She goes by "Linda Knowles"

Received an email from "Linda Knowles" and same as another person who posted the only content of the email is "I need your Bookkeeper service"

Thought she was from our lead list because we just sent out leads but when I tried to search for her name or email it wasn't there. Thought maybe it was an old client and tried to check but there was no record there too.

Decided on the off chance to just search for the email she used [email protected] and arrived at this page as the top result.

Thanks for the help, we will not entertain.

I too own a bookkeeping practice and this Linda Van at [email protected] also emailed me last December inquiring check printing and mailing. I first asked what type of business she owned and she said wedding events and I asked for contact info. She said her only contact was through email. RED FLAG! I then emailed her and said she'd have to find someone else, that bookkeepers don't do admin work, that we are accounting professionals. She was very persistent, said she would cover the cost of shipping, envelopes, etc. I still refused. Jump ahead to May 27th, 2020. I get an email from a guy named Tony, says he needs bookkeeping services to pay bills. Like Linda he refused to give a contact number, first said he was an events planner, I gave him my fee sent an engagement letter along with an ach agreement. Collected my payment and he then emailed me saying he'd be sending me a list of names and a list of checks to be printed. Then I remembered Linda Van. After mailing the first batch of checks on Friday, he sends me an email at 5:30 in the afternoon asking me to go to a nearby CVS store and pick up a gift card in the amount of $500.00, take a photo of front and back and send him the pic. I refused, I flat out told him no, that I would not be caught up in scandalous activity. When my money reached my bank account, I called the bank and told them what had played out and they froze my bank account and sent the funds back to the bank they were drawn on. I completely ignored his emails and later got an email from both he and guess who? Linda Van, asking why I had ignored them. Again I didn't respond. My bank has the fraud team investigating them both. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY, IT IS A SCAM!

Linda Van contacted my company via email stating she needed a personal assistant. She was looking for someone to pay some bills for her. She first asked if there was a Chase or Wells Fargo locally and if so, did I bank at either. I told her there were both and I banked with WF. She then asked for my account info so she could transfer the money to my account so I could pay the bills. I told her we don't give out our account info for obvious security reasons. I thought it odd right away she would transfer money to someone she didn't know. I also thought it odd she would ask for my banking info. Who would even give that out?! She then asked if she could send me a check. I said sure. Still not trusting the situation. She asked for my address, name and cell. I gave her a fake address and cell. I actually attempted to get her to call me however she never did. I also asked if she was local, no response. I gave her a PO address. She said she needed a physical address because the check will be mailed USP. I told her the PO was the only address we give out. She said "no problem" After asking her several times where she was located, she said LA. Attempting to get a cell number from her however she keeps ignoring my question. I told her if she wants to move forward with the job, we talk to all our customers via phone to get detailed info of the job they want done. She still never gave me her number. Do not do work for this person, it is a scam

- Waco, TX, USA

The scammer contacted my website domain with a company who designed my business website. The company forwarded her information to my email address stating that I had a new potential client. I answered the email and began a business quote as to how my services are offered to potential customers. The woman returned my quote and her instructions were, she needed a bookkeeper to process checks. I then gave her a quote, after I began asking her about her business. She advised my her company was a corporation in doing business as a wedding planner, parties and etc. The email kept coming back and forth making sure I was a good fit for her business. I accepted the job as her bookkeeper. She said she needed a certain kind of checking paper, which I had to special order from Amazon costing $100.00. I emailed her after I received the checks from Amazon. So I began to work for her and she emailed me again, stating I needed to open an UPS account to begin shipping checks to her clients. I opened an account with ups and began mailing out the checks. The gentleman at the UPS store began showing how to prepared my packages. Ms. Linda Van said to asked for air bills because they were free.

My UPS account was still not established , so I kept going and making my mailings. Then one night, I received a call from one of the clients that I had mailed a checked to and she wanted to know what was going on, because she didn't know me. I explained to her about mailing out the checks and that I was only the middle person sending out the checks. After a long conversation with this lady, I began to realized that maybe that honest work that I was doing, was a sham. I told the lady, that I was no longer going to prepare checks for this woman. By the time we had finished our conversation, it was very late into the night. I decided to wait in the morning to emailed Ms. Linda Van. I emailed her and told her the experienced I had with the client the night before. I then told her that I was not going to be her bookkeeper any longer.

She then told me to keep mailing out the checks, and that she had already spoken with the client. I then said ok, I would continue, but I had to change my mind about this, because this do not seem right at all. I emailed Ms. Van and in writing I told her that I was quitting and she offered to pay me more that what was quoted. I refused to accept her monies, and told her not to emailed anymore. She then said that every mailing that I had done was going to cost about $60- $70 per shipment and how was I going to pay for it. I told her that I would call UPS and explained to them what happened and I would pay them back somehow.

When I researched her company, it return back as a office building real estate. Nothing to what I was explained before. The more I researched the more I was very afraid of whether it was a legitimate business or not.

I have her cell phone number and I researched her business and she has her picture on the website, but now I don't know if this is a legitimate business. I am now afraid to even get new clients from a trusted company who forward me a referral. I have stopped doing business with this lady or Momentous Occasions Inc . She offered to cover for my first month services totaling $2930.00 on first month. The name of the company is : Forever and Always Wedding & Events LLC Amount: $2930. Email: [email protected]. I have kept all of the emails that she had sent me for future reference. I still turned down the the money and told her not to call me.
