Door to door magazine salesman never delivered magazines

A door to door salesman (Marcel M) came to my house to sell magazines to help underprivileged individuals. He identified himself as part of the New Beginnings Connection organization and said he was registered with the county to sell door to door and flashed proof. After selecting a magazine type and paying $75 in cash I was given a receipt. The magazines never came. There is no way of reaching the organization and the phone number (314) 326-9949 goes to voice mail right away.

Likely a Scam

A man who claims to be 'Marcel Merriweather' goes door to door saying he's selling magazine subscriptions for a good cause. The story changes. Sometimes it's a regular subscription for the buyer, other times it is for a homeless or women's shelter. In the first case, the subscription never showed up. In the second case, there's zero way to validate this is how the money is being used. The receipts he gives out are, oddly, not very legible; as if they've been copied too many times.

I can confirm that Marcel Merriweather goes door to door, he gives a sob story, this time it was about women's shelter. When calling the police department they verified he did not have a current license's however they could not confirm if the "new beginning's connection" organization was legit. Further when I called the number they gave me it was almost inaudible, and never was "new beginning's connection" referenced in the phone call. If you find yourself to be in a scam it is always best to not give them any money, but if you do a check is best because you can cancel it with your bank.

Initial means of contact: Not applicable

Actually seems like a good organization to me. The gentleman who came to my door seemed very genuine.
