Miniature Donkeys for sale and adoption FB scam

Marry Anderson, the moderator for this group scammed me out of $400. She has many fake but convincing glowing reviews. The group was recently renamed “Charming and Adorable Mini Donkeys for Sale. “. She offered 2 donkeys for $1,400 with delivery. $400 up front for vetting, shipping etc and $1,000 cash on delivery. Of course, non-recoverable Venmo. She told me she was in Tennessee but has told others many different states. She sent me a tracking notice, supposedly donkeys were loaded and heading my way. Then the transport
Co , Metro global expressway sent a message they needed me to send them $1,050 for “customs stamps” that would be 100% refundable on delivery. Customs stamps to go from TN to NC? Mary told me not to worry about it, she uses them all the time and they are trustworthy. When I refused and told her this sounded like fraud, she immediately blocked me from the group so I couldn’t report them. I sent a request through Venmo for refund, which of course never came.

FB group of 16k members called “miniature donkeys for sale and adoption “ one of the admins named “marry Anderson” selling donkeys, many people in the group vouching for her business. We communicated through messenger for 3 weeks. Total was $800, sent deposit of $300 through Zelle. Sent another $200 to her “husband” for insurance of delivery. Day of delivery received a text from a shipping company with a tracking number stating animal was coming by air via FedEx. Red flag. Was reassured by marry. Called the number of the shipping company and was answered on 7th ring by Indian man saying “hello”. Received another text from company asking for $899 health insurance fee that would be refunded on delivery. I demanded a refund from “Marry” who had her “husband” call me, same Indian man as before. Assured me it wasn’t a scam, told him to call his shipping company and have his donkey returned and refund my initial $500. I know I won’t see it. Notified bank.
