Look Who's Knocking Reports & Reviews (1)

- Wilmington, NC, USA

This man came to my door and said he was working with the builder in my neighborhood installing of their peepholes. He hurriedly presented the 3 options for different peepholes and I agree to purchase their "best" option which supposedly is a solar powered LED peephole. He lowered to price to make the sale and assured me all of my neighbors were buying them and that the HOA had approved them. Within minutes after I said ok they were drilling a hole in my front door and installing this worthless piece of plastic. It supposedly would see even at night if I left the porch lights on because they would power it (supposedly solar powered). He then asked for payment of $199. which I paid him by check (which he requested be made out not to the company but to the "owner" which I assume is his wife because she has the same last name). After he left I contacted my HOA and they had never heard of him nor approved of him soliciting here or of the device he was selling. I did some research on the web and our construction manager tried to call him but it went to voicemail which was full. When it got dark and I looked out to see it working it was pitch black and I couldn't see anything. I did more web searching and found I could buy a better one with a monitor for $35.00. I decided to stop paymenb on the check and contacted him via email to explain why and offered to return it. He wrote back that he is taking the check to the magistrate today. He fraudulently presented his business and the fact that he was sanctioned by both the builder and HOA which are total lies. This is a 55+ community and he is preying on us for that reason. I saw others on the web that have been scammed by him. I am in North Carolina said he is located in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
