I received a phone call from a man who identified himself as “Ben ****.” He claimed he worked with someone I know named Payton and said that Payton was giving away free insurance policies through a company called Global Life Insurance. The caller knew my full name, went to my same college and attempted to get my home address so he could send information about the policy.

I declined to provide my address because the call seemed suspicious. After the call, I contacted the person he referenced (Payton), who stated that multiple people in his contacts are receiving similar calls and that the caller is lying and does not actually know or work with him.

This appears to be a scam where someone is impersonating a connection to gain trust and obtain personal information.
