Louis Raben Scammed Me

I also found Louis on NextDoor exactly the same person as listed on the 1st review. He did 1/3 of the work promised, took 2/3 of the money, trashed our property, didn’t clean up, broke stuff, stole things was abusive and shouldn’t be allowed to continue scamming others!

Louis Raben advertises himself as a one-man handyman or remodeler. We found him on NextDoor. He is from Georgia. He claims to have recently setup a new company called IV Services. He came to our home, we discussed various handyman items to fix, he provided a quote, we begrudgingly agreed to pay $250 deposit since he claimed to have purchased materials (he never provided any receipts after multiple requests), then when trying to schedule the work he never showed up and was nonresponsive. He even said since I signed the quote, he won't refund the money, even though he didn't complete any work (install ceiling fans, build a dog door, fix some windows, etc.). We did some research on him during this time and saw a few negative reviews of him on NextDoor as well. I'm sure other homeowners have been scammed on paying some deposits, which are reasonable in the construction business. I have been in contract with NextDoor, Venmo (the app I paid him thru), and my bank (Chase). These small deposits are well below a limit the police or an attorney would likely pursue, but I wanted to share this scam publicly via the BBB. Thank you.
