Scammer contacted my husband through text claiming that he had seen his flooring business listing on Google and needed some work done on a house in Panhandle Tx. My husband gave him an initial bid of $3,000 for labor. Scammer said that he already had materials at the job site and emailed my husband a check for $4,500 and explained to him how to mobile deposit it. My husband then contacted me about it and I started doing some research on the check. I started questioning things and so my husband asked the scammer how he was supposed to get the keys to the house to get the work started as scammer claimed he was out of state at the moment. Scammer told my husband that the electrician working on the house at the moment has the key and that my husband would have to pay him the extra from the check that was sent to get it.
